My 17 year old daughter has one fitted. It has ensured she has learned to drive smoothly, and allowed significant insurance discounts.
Wouldn't want one in my car though!
Doubtless there isn't one of us would want one installed in our cars but Shak is right to be worried. I don't like were it is heading either.
I understand your daughter benefitting from the lower premiums now - and it is probably teaching her to be a better driver - but I wonder what will happen when she asks to have it removed in future years. They will regard such a request as a higher risk and charge accordingly. It could well be that your daughter's generation may be stuck with these for the rest of their driving.
Once there is a "quorum" of cars using them some bright spark in the gubberment will decide all cars after a certain date will require them.
To use the immortal words always trotted out by our masters, I can hear it now: How could you be against them? If you've nothing to hide you nothing to fear.
