North West Run - Sunday 9th October

Dear Moderators - please would it be possible to make this a sticky until 10th October?

You may recall some time ago that we floated the idea of an autumn "excursion" in the sunny North West - or even (putting all prejudices to one side) going into Wales! Well, the summary so far would appear to be that those interested include;

1. Terry
2. Darren
3. MrMickS
4. Ianed0
5. Mike of the MJHeathcote variety
6. Doohickey possibly
7. LeeH as he`s suggested the lunch venue!
8. Jkulin possibly
9. spkennyuk possibly

The Aunt Sally that I put together based on suggestions made was that we meet near the M6 (Fox and Hounds suggested), pick up others at convenient spots along the way, coffee somewhere, and trundle to Lee`s suggested hostelry in Llangollen for a pub lunch. The great thing about Llangollen is that there are lots of interesting places there - so possibly the motor museum (small but interesting, and they have a field that they would probably allow us to park on), or the steam railway, or Plas Newydd (not the Anglesey one), or a canal trip??????????????????? Meet up for afternoon tea afterwards, and then a scenic route back.

That really is only a shot in the dark, so feel free to pick holes, kick me gently in the nether regions, etc.

Cheers, folks

Terry

LeeH has now moved to Scotland so would be a bit of a detour. I may well be able to join you but won't know til nearer the time.

That's not the North chaps. You all live in the Midlands. Just ask Highlander, Needamaser, Allan etc where the north is.

:)

I'd come down if you bring it up a little to Preston/Lancaster area.

Wish I could join guys, but as Dicky said I am currently moving all my stuff north to Braemar.

I still suggest a stop in Llangollen as a good stop off point.

But when you are all coming up north, give me a shout as I Am now working for the company that owns the Bothy Cafe in Braemar, which some of you already know. It's a great coffee/cake stop on some amazing roads.
We are also currently finishing off some wooden cabins on the site which sleep 2 to 6 people if you fancy a stop off on route. We have 4 of these and The Old Bank House, which should be ready in about 2 months or so.

Happy driving around North Wales though....

No it isn't - as a Geordie it all depends on where you start.

Anyway, I think I'm going to have to decline this - I've got a stag do (in Manchester as it happens) on the Friday and Saturday and

a) I won't have the car with me and
b) I'm likely to be too hung over to drive.

I saw him Sunday at a cars and coffee in Liverpool, last I heard he was attempting a men in black style trip down one of the tunnels so you might be safe if he's stuck to the roof

Was in Braemar and area at the weekend with a bunch of old Italian bikes and owners.
Forgot it clashed with the Gathering and the place was heaving!
Did think about looking for the cafe but when I saw the crowds I headed to Ballater instead.
Even Braemar is South for some of us! ;-)

Ever so sorry - I forgot that there are still some Scots who don`t want to follow Ms Sturgeon in setting up Hadrian Construction Limited!

Doesn`t seem to be too much of a problem about going to Llangollen - apart from with certain other Celts. Not too sure about lunch - what do you reckon, Lee? Would your mate still welcome us without you? Should we go somewhere recommended by someone who won`t be there to taste the consequences? Seriously, what do you reckon?

54% I think was the figure from memory!
Even more decisive than Brexit. ;-)
