What with the mobile holder, sat nav holder, CD hanging from rear view mirror, speed camera detector it's amazing you can see out at all :)

Hahaha, I say let's get rid of some stuff off the windscreen, we only have to have a taax disc here in the UK, but with the equipment we use too, it's more than enough..!!

No I think it's keep the number plate you have, but that number is then recorded as being taxed, or not as may be the case..!! It' just like now, if you don't have a tax disc in the window, your car can still be checked to see if it's taxed by computer..!!

I know no more than the above link, begs to ask how this will be received and policed!

It's been moving this way for years, witness the way insurance and MoT details are checked at the click of a button when you renew your VED online. Once it is all online there is no point having the little paper disc, no one looks at it anyway.

A story:-
One of my Chamonix friends took his battered Punto on a day trip to Geneva. This Punto, Irish registered, hasn't seen an NCT (MoT) station nor tax disc for ten years (but it is insured). By Irish motor regs it should have been displaying all three (tax, NCT, and Insurance) discs in the windscreen. The Swiss border police took an interest in this old wreck with nothing showing in the window.
They stopped him and asked for "documents".
He gave them his passport.
"Documents, car" they repeated.
He shrugged and said "computer, all computerised".
"Documents"
"All on the computer. In Ireland, all computerised".
They got bored and waved him on.

I suspect there will be more of this :)

That could have an effect of increasing prices as businesses have to absorb additional cost..??

There will be no savings as a result. The IT will go way over budget and eventually be scrapped and they will put up fuel duty...just like all government programmes.

O yeah....I got arrested and thumb printed by the Swiss border police for having the wrong docs for an old Alfa I was driving back to the UK a couple of years ago...
