Morning all, so 1st proper thing that has happened with the QP.

Jumped in this morning and started fine, noticed a yellow (P) symbol on the dash, looked through the menus and it said about a 'Handbrake reset' not knowing what this really entailed I proceeded to put in reverse and try to go backwards but was halted to a stop with a bit of a bang and a very strong smell of brakes/transmission!!

I am a bit worried if I have damaged anything now. I pulled the electronic handbrake twice as instructed and seemed fine and reset but quite concerned if I have done any lasting damage! Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance!

Mine occasionally says ‘parking brake overheated’ when the car and the brakes are stone cold, assumed it was a voltage thing as it definitely want dragging and only comes up very occasionally after a cold start

I sometimes manually release mine (oooerr) as it can pull off (phannarrr) quite hard when the engine is in cold start.

So this issue has just happened again!

Unfortunately this time the rear brakes are locked and am stranded roadside with the missus and kids in the car!

Started to happen whilst driving and the brakes seem to have ceased on, came to a stop safely amd called AA!

Can anyone advise on what to do can the epb be released manually??

What rear brake set up do you have, is it the 4 pots with the separate caliper for parking? hopefully AA man can just pull the pads out the offending side to get you on your way.

This is what I am hoping! The feel of the car, it only seems like the nearside rear is stuck

If you don’t then I think its a mini drum and shoe set up
I think it is the mini drum like you have stated. I've found the diagrams on Eurospares and it shows the actuator which I have the tool for but I can't find anywhere where it says its located! Lots online with other models saying in the boot space but I've looked everywhere!
