They were offered a better alternative , there's a company that does shipping container sized batteries for off grid ev charging but there was more profit in renting diesel generators apparently, like they don't make enough money.

The high fee was to deter people from rocking up with no charge. There’s no petrol near Pilton either.

Also read this morning the Land Rover Discovery plug in hybrid managed less than 30 miles on its battery so good job it's got a proper engine too.

The Mercedes 350de GLE does only marginally better with 54 on all electric!

Although it does say (on Auto Trader) that it will do 313.90mpg combined! :oops:
