Pricing for pis to be done

So today I received my 4200 back from getting a new clutch. The guy who done it hadn’t got the relevant software to reset the pis so I contacted main dealer Charles hurst in n.I where I live. To reset the pis needed 2hrs labour possibly going into 3hrs. Surely this cannot be right or am I missing something here? Would I be better buying a diagnostic kit that can reset the clutch etc? Thanks in advance, neil

Seems a little OTT. I recall it took Voicey (and me driving) about an hour total. But that was an already running car so it may be worse for a new set up, but I doubt it.

@conaero should be able to state definitively

Pop in to Sportsitalia I’ll do it for you for free in under 15mins and that includes me setting up the clutch, PIS and making you a frothy coffee.
I would love to but I live in Northern Ireland (for my sins). Thanks so much for the offer

Sounds like they thought you were asking for them to take the pi55 not reset the PIS...

Shouldn't take anything like that long. Buy a Launch X431 as used by many on here and do it yourself.

Cheers,

Simon
Thanks Simon

Hey Simon I’ve went on to Amazon and there are a bewildering array of launch x431’s. Can you recommend which one I should be looking at?
Thanks again, Neil

If it takes them 2 to 3 hours to set the PIS then do not take it there for a service as that must be 3 days work for them at their speed.

Seriously it is a 10 minute job to get a decent setting done. If you really want to fine tune it then 30 mins to 1 hour.

The only thing that would take any time is making sure the car is up to temperature and had plenty of gear changes on the drive round to warm all the fluids and moving parts up.

If you set up the PIS when the car is cold the clutch can drag when it is warmed up.

Hi Neil,

Charley is expensive but worth it for resale imo. The Lead Technician Walter is very well versed in these motors just a shame we have no specialist here, there would be a killing to be made.

You re taking the PIS out main dealer with this offer. Bravo. It is refreshingly rare to find people, let alone a business willing to give things away.

Not disrespecting any main dealer, who likely charge an hour minimum for any job. In my own work we assume that any item we look at is minimum one hour.
Already been done but have to empty my brain.

Hi Phil

I'm based in Sunny Portstewart Norin Iron and the lucky owner of 4 4200's (don't ask - I has a very understanding wife!!). Purchased an X431 Pro3 last year with the latest software updates so should be up to the job of setting the PIS. Have change a few clutches over the years on the manual cars but not had the pleasure in a CC equipped 4200 yet so happy for you to contact me if you wish to plug your car in and do the setup. The process seems relatively straightforward and I like Guinea pigs LOL.

Happy motoring,

Terry

I know, although I thought there is a specialist called beechlawn motors who do massers and Ferrari . I’ve tried to get them on numerous occasions but to no avail.

As a matter of interest is it safe to drive a CC/DS with the clutch not set up any distance?
