There is a sub £50k and 3 sub £60k Rapides on autotrader at the moment. Higher mileage than you'd want with an AM but nevertheless, still cheap money for a brand like AM. But boy, it is a HUGE car. Was looking at a Panamera (gen 2) at the weekend and that is a long car too, thought my CLS63 had been a long car but both the Panamera and Rapide dwarf it.

I'll have a look. But high mileage would put me off.

Still haven't got round to checking out the panamera gen 2. Everyone on here keeps trying to put me off.

I'd be looking at one of these as an everyday for sure. I want back into a fast German Wagen at some point.

Agreed.

A grey one like that was parked outside my house the other day. Couldn't help but go outside and have a look. Lovely.

As sterile as it may be, it's a fantastic bit of kit. I'm quite tempted with it but it's just too big for me. It's a shame Porsche don't do something in between.

Actually that RS6 is expensive. You are looking at £60-70k at least.

Need to scrap that idea. I ain't paying that much for an Audi.

I'm with you Rockits......Been in and driven a few RS Audis....bloody fast, lively built interior but sterile as feck...maybe it's the 4 wheel drive..... Never warmed to them including the style plus these days the knob head drivers have moved from BMW to Audi.......Phil don't be the knob head driver get another fast BMW or maybe AMG ..... Or maybe the XE S which can be had for mid 30k....

The cost of ownership for a volume produced brand for anything RS Audi is crippling.
The depreciation is massive. And at the end of the day its still only an Audi which is a big fleet owner car - even reps drive an A1 or A3 as company cars.

At your budget, consider a 997 gen 2 Porsche Turbo with the standard PDK box (not an auto but a double clutch pre-selector box).
Stunningly fast, much lower volume production and from an Official Porsche Centre (OPC = main dealer) will cone with a 2 year warranty.

It may only be an Audi but Rennsport Audi's are a bit more special than the run of the mill A Cars believe me having owned a few! Mostly built at Neckarsulm in a different factory they have over the years been epic. A mate has this new RS6 and it is a weapon of a car with more soul than an AMG for me.

Hang on. But you lot aren't even comparing like for like! A Porsche vs an RS6? You need to be comparing the estate cars.

Some of us buy cars for the functionality of them as well.

Jag shooting brake vs the RS6 is more like it.

True, Porsche dont do Estate cars. But an RS6 is still just an Audi - a mass-produced estate car with a big beefy engine that'll lose loads on depreciation and cost a crippling amount in servicing and maintenance (some Porsche guys had the RS4 smaller estate, that's what I base my comments on). They chucked it in and bought GT3 and 997 Turbo cars - appreciating in value but loss of the rear seats.
