They had all the relatives in close proximity, they could have got them all together, even if in more than one place, but all at the same time and made the announcement to all concerned then, to send it to some by text is a bit heartless to say the least. The main media did not have to be told until just afterwards, it has happened that way before and should have happened in this case. VERY BAD JUDGEMENT..!!

And sent the text in English, a further insult to the mainly Chinese relative.

The way they have handled this has been a complete ******* shambles!

Many years ago, in a different life, I did a lot of business with a division of one of Malaysia's biggest companies, Sime Darby. They were great to work with. But, I got the impression that they were not as sophisticated as they would like me to believe.

Furthermore, back then, Chinese citizens of Malaysia - I think that they make up 35% of the population, had restrictions on their business. For example, any business over a certain size had to have a Malay at its head. In Sime Darby there definitely seemed to be a glass ceiling for Chinese employees.

Now, things may have changed since the late eighties, early nineties. But, it would not surprise me in the slightest if Malaysia and it's Muslim government has a terrible reputation in China.
