IIRC, Brooklands is one of, if not the, earliest racing circuit and parts of it are still usable today. And it's in London!

Crystal palace was the mid 30s I think and it is not in use today
The track was first used in 1899; next race is over the upcoming bank holiday weekend. (I've just looked that stuff up)

However... It's a quiz, so the intended answer of the quizmaster is always right.

Neither Crystal Palace or Brooklands are still circuits well not according to my investigation. The track I am looking for still is as is the one that I think Atlfatwo was eluding to

Ok seems we need some clues, well Dave (Atlfatwo) suggested where they make beer which I assume was a reference to Milwaukee which is famous brewing city although only Millers are still based there.

The Milwaukee Mile is indeed one of the oldest motor speedway circuits holding its first motor race in 1903 and holding at least one race every year other than during WW II. It was originally a dirt circuit held on the agricultural fairground both facts it has in common with the answer to the question.

I think your going to have to reveal the answer and set a new question zag. Its been running a few days now.

Ok the answer is Knoxville Raceway, Tennessee - Sprint Car Capital of the world. The first race was held in 1901 although regular racing didn't start to sometime later.

The nearest correct answer, assuming i understood the cryptic clue, was Dave (Alfatwo) who suggested "Where they brew beer" which if I understood the response was the Milwaukee Mile which started racing in 1903.

Alfatwo over to you

I will start you off with a question again.

The word skyscraper dates back to the late 1700's but what was the word first attributes too ?

As a clue it has nothing to do with buildings and was quite famous in the day.

As you may know I like words (some of my previous q's are word related), so I think I know this one.
I will let it go for a while (besides I have not got a Q to set anyway!)

Its not a tree but your right in the fact it was a living thing.

Statue of Liberty was around 100 years later in the 1880's.

Ok time for another clue. This thing became famous because of a major annual event. If you work out the event or type of event then you will probably get it from there.

Was it not something to do with the top hat that early cyclist wore on Penny Farthings?

No im afraid not zag.

Another clue. The annual event that made this thing famous takes place in the UK. This years event is on the 4th of June and is sponsored by Investec.

The other clues were: It was a living thing and it is or was a land based thing.

Hopefully that should give you enough clues to guess the event which should lead you to answer.
