Ok time for a clue. The top three empires measured in GDP all reached their peak within a few years of each other. All three were in the 1900 to 2000 era.

I would say Germany as it was and empire plus a few possessions in Africa etc the next Russian, then France. All before the first world war.

Top four in order above. Your correct Martin Germany was the second largest measured in GDP.
