Question of the day

Very kind and indeed a good question.

Jacky Fisher was not using OMG in the modern sense of adding an 'I am amazed/appalled' status to something

This would appear to be fairly obvious given the separation of O from MG. As for the bastar*isation of the English language - that is worth a rant of its own. Stephen Fry once referred to this as the language of the Sunny Delight generation :)

Okay, possibly a fairly easy one as this a reasonably well known story.
What links these two bands and how please:
T-Rex with Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich.

Do you really mean Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Titch? :)

Indeed but do mean Tich? :p

I'm pretty confident about Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky and Mick. Not so sure about Titch v Tich?

I could give you a link between them and Melinda Messenger, but I don't see how that would help....

Elton John played piano on Get it On with T Rex. Did he play with DDDBMandT?

Not that I'm aware of. Do please though have a bonus point for neatly side-stepping the previous ... err ... previous :)

Next clues. The instrument is a guitar and although a music question this is also car related.

Is it a bit like the Cliff Richard and Hank Marvin one where one musician stole the other ones guitar.

A very good guess but not exactly the right answer - we are talking about the same guitar though. A Gretsch 6120 - as this is the link that has to be worth 1 point.

The "how" though is the interesting part. How are Marc Bolan & Dave Dee connected by the same guitar?

Is it that Melinda Messenger stole a guitar from Dave Dee and later sold it to Marc Bolan?

You're determined to squeeze the gorgeous MM into this threesome - and who could blame you for trying

The guitar in question hangs in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

The dress shirt is a good clue even if the name tag isn't. Even if you squint.

One last clue before suggesting MLC reinstates his question from last week.

Dave Dee (Harmen) was a police cadet prior to musical success. As this story has a motoring element how might have a policeman come into contact with this guitar?

Seems a bit macabre, but did DD retrieve it from the car after Marc Bolan had his fatal crash?

Again a good guess but not the answer. But along the right lines. This guitar belonged to Eddie Cochran who himself died as a result of a car accident. Dee attended the scene and indeed removed the guitar. Whilst impounded at the cop shop Dee started to learn to play with it. Earlier the same tour a young fan, Marc Feld (Bolan), was allowed by Cochran to carry his guitar to his car. As you say Bolan later died in similar circumstances.

Perhaps over to MLC

I'll jump in with a killer that should keep you googling to the cows come home....

What links the following years...

1962, 1972, 1973, 1978, 1979 (twice), 1980 (twice but for different a reason), 1982, 1998, 2000.

I think while we wait for midlifecrisis to come online and give us some more clues, we should have another simultaneous question, to keep people busy, so I am going to boldly step in, with a 'motorsport' question:

Which of the 7 British monarchs who were born abroad was born at Le Mans? And, can you also name the other 6?
