Drewf is 100% correct
I did not know you resided there?
I was a ware of the metropole and the overseas territories and Corsica but I phrased the question badly
Over to you mon ami

Yes indeed, I partly reside between Geneva and Chamonix, as well as in Lincs - some of the SM chaps called in on the way to Modena, so we had a nice collection of Masers on the lawn :)

There's famously a very large fountain in Lake Geneva, driven by turbines.

Where is the largest fountain in England, and how high does the water jet go?

Is it the Princess Diana fountain in Hyde Park? I know it doesn't go high but it goes long instead?

Gravity fed is the tough bit as it limits it to a Victorian or older, fairly hilly location, not at Alton Towers is it?

Not happening is it?

It's at Stanway House & Fountain, near Cheltenham - built in 2004 by The Fountain Workshop (based in Kent apparently), which sounds like a fantastic if fairly limited profession to have :D

The fountain rises to over 300', making it the highest gravity fountain in the world. It's impressive, for sure - you can get pretty close to it. Well worth seeing, if you don't have a full bladder.

Going to be out for most of the day at the SM meet, so no question from me. Anyone else wish to ask one?

I would imagine it's built by a guy called David, who I met at a Kent/Sussex Maserati meet last Friday.
He's a really nice guy and designs, builds and maintains fountains all over the world. Owns a QP, a 1935 Aston MKII, a 1936 Lagonda (when they designed and built cars without a ruler) and various other beauties.
I believe he's also a member on here.

Very interesting, it sounds quite a sight to see.

I'll have a bash then - Why are door knobs commonly made out of brass?

Brass is an alloy of Copper and Zinc and one of its properties are that it does not corrode easily so it is good for exterior use
