Most people believe that William Huskisson MP was the first to be run over by a train in 1830. He was killed by being run over by the Rocket at Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire during the opening ceremony of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway but there was an earlier death

Witnessed by the Duke of Wellington, according to a programme I watched the other day...thus putting him off railways for life. At least he got a seat.

OK here is the answer

1821 David Brook, a carpenter, is walking home from Leeds, Yorkshire along the Middleton Railway in a sleet storm when he is run over, with fatal results, by the steam engine of a coal train. This is the first case of a person being killed in a railway collision

Travelling most of tomorrow so some one else can set the question

Ok I'll set this one as I set the last one before Zag; British racing green, french racing blue, Dutch racing orange, Italian racing red, what was the original German National motor racing colour?

German cars only became silver in the late 30s when Mercedes couldn't get their car under the 750Kg weight limit, so they stripped the paint back to bare aluminium and it was just under weight hence the silver arrows (apparently)

OK as the England cricket team are basking in their glory after bowling out the Aussies for 60 thought we might have a related question

What is the lowest that any test team have been bowled out for in a single innings? Who and when?
