Yes my old mans got quick silver boxes on his. He ditched the Larinis for them.
Not much louder than standard and good fitment.

Think it is QS on marci. Love the spitfire hum from them but given she is static I can't upload a soundtrack mate

I've got Quicksilvers on my early 3200GT.

They were actually fitted by the dealer. The car was in for its annual service and it needed new boxes - that would have been the 3rd set when it was only 15 years old which I felt was getting silly. I asked about stainless instead and what they found me were the Quicksilvers. They still had to have some centre sections fabricated in stainless as well but even then the whole bill was still marginally less than the cost of the (obviously rubbish) OEM mild steel parts. The result was somewhat (but not really excessively) noisier than the originals but it was much better sound so that was a massive bonus.

I've had a lot of compliments on the sound - I can successfully manage to trigger car alarms in a multi storey car park with lowish ceilings :).

I had them on my 4200, can be a bit a bit of a drone between 50 and 70 on a motorway. So you just have to go faster and it disappears! :p

I saw a used pair on eBay last night and remembered your old 4200.

I just fitted GS backboxes and until I got the valves working the drone between 1500-2200 was deafening... Still is with the valves open. Sometimes I want that but majority of the time not

My 3200 had Quicksilver rear boxes, although they were incorrectly claimed to be Larinis when I bought it. They were ok, but a little noisier than standard, and boomy at around 40 mph. I like quiet cars, so personally I'd prefer the originals. The stainless ones will last longer though.

I think I have these on my car and they do drone a bit. I wrapped them in thermal cloth tape (2 or 3 layers of it) and that helped, I also lined the cavity in the bumper with soundproof foam and all of this makes it reasonable to live with.

So what do you recon the best stainless rear box's are, not to noisy and none of the dreaded low rpm droning

might be worth checking Eurospares, they had a Tubi style back box for a while and it was not crazy money either, not heard bad reports on those.

I have always found Quicksilver boxes do seem to drone at that 2k rpm. The wizard boxes on the GT were nice once warmed up but sounded really tinny when cold.

The Spyder had one of the early SM setups which I think were modified GS boxes and they were great.

A couple of weeks ago I fitted Larini sports back boxes on the 4200, there is no drone, but they are loud! Any yes, after experiencing two 200 mile journeys last weekend I would still buy them again.

I have tubi’s fitted and pleased with them . No drone and the right amount of v8 warble without louder rasp of Larini’s.
