Very sad news, and our thoughts are with his family. It would be good as a mark of respect as Maserati enthuasiasts if the forum could send a message of condolence be it online or a physical one.

Sad news, and a sad day for a company which Mr Marchionne did such an extraordinary job of turning around.

Reading how he turned not only FIAT's fortunes but Chrysler's too, ahead of schedule in terms of payment of loans from the US Government and the toxic debt it had (21% interest!). He basic made $2B into $72 and didn't wear a suit but a jumper, and not a roll neck either!

:( rip. Possibly for the best though, can't imagine what it would have been like if he had pulled through.

Absolutely stunned, he was a terrific leader and no matter what, he always seemed to find a smile. A great and good man who will be a very hard act to follow.

******* **** news, feel gutted for someone obviously I didn't know. Without his work you would now very probably be looking at a Alfa as a VW subsidiary, Maserati gone completely, and a much less competitive ferrari trading solely on its name and not still the finest (imho) engine manufacturer in the world, that you can still only get if u stay within group.
History will show his mark. I hope his replacement is half the man.
RIP

Had to Google what a Sarcoma was as I'd never heard of it. And then looked at what he had, basically he had bone cancer in the shoulder.
Having read the symptoms, and having had two shoulder reconstruction operations myself, I can't imagine the pain the poor bloke was going through.

Not nice at all.
