My Wheels are in desperate need for a re-furb, I am not normally one to have different colours as I normally prefer to keep a car looking original. However today I have seen a couple of cars with a lovely dark silver finish on the wheels, not quiet Grey but similar to the colour of my car.

Anyone with different non silver wheels on their 4200 please post a picture up so I can see how it might look, still not 100% convinced as I would not want the car to look modified but I would be keen to see any.

Thanks

Tony

Thats the one Max that looks stunning. Just been speaking with my bodyshop they said it was a fairly straight forward job, so as I am going to have them re-furbed anyway may give that colour a try, only worry I had was would it look as good on the same colour car? or do you need more of a contrast like yours.
Yes mine are light silver (normal wheel silver!)

How much does your bodyshop charge for a wheel strip / re-furb / powder-coat and bake, Tony? I'm tempted by black (also on Griigio Alfieri, btw)

That does look nice Richard,
Im stuck between the two not sure if I prefer the contrast the lighter silver gives.
Having no doubt seen many in the past Richard what would be your preference from a selling point of view as well as a personal choice?

Personally and sale wise, I'd go grey.

My preference is a contrast on any car. Light car with dark wheels, dark car with light wheels usually looks good. Grey on grey looks a little too......grey!

Mine will need a re-furb now I've learned how wide she is and how to park!!! Good old iPad changed "re-furb" to "re-curb" then!

I'm thinking of getting a darker colour, maybe even black as the silver on silver is nice, but not interesting...

Anyone got pictures of a Grigio Touring with darker wheels? Maybe photo-shop is my friend!

This was my worry that it would be too Grey, Im sat looking at a Black Focus ST with the same colour grey wheels and it looks good but not sure about all grey.
Having said that as Richard says for re-sale could give it a "newer" look its a fairly new idea for cars to come from factory with different colour wheels so could bring it more up to date.

I will have to think long and hard I dont think it will be costing me too much so might just have them done then if I change my mind I can always have them put right.

That's a good idea!

I do like the dark grey on dark grey, it's quite a sophisticated look. I guess I'm looking to go the opposite way and be a bit more of a hooligan with black. I should just do it and go back if its unacceptable.

Only way to solve this is to have drivers side painted grey and passenger side silver then see what looks best!!!!! ;-p

Joking aside I think I have made my mind up to go grey the ones on Richards car look good and after speaking to him and seeing his posts on here he seems to be the man to trust on all things Maserati so I will trust his judgment.

Will be a couple of weeks before the bodyshop can fit them in but as soon as they are done I will post some pictures.

Thanks for all your comments

Just by way of a update, I chickened out and went for silver!! They are with the paint shop now after chatting to the painter for a while we agreed that grey on grey was either going to look fantastic or rubbish!! So I went with caution and I'm keeping them silver.

Once I get them back I will post some pictures and hopefully a recommendation for a good paint shop.

Not one to take expert advice, I'm booked in for Monday to have gloss black done. Probably going to look ridiculous and would need to be put back to "standard" if I ever wanted to sell to anyone with taste, but worth a try if only to prove it to myself.

Hoping its actually going to look amazing. Will let you know on Tuesday. Now, I've managed to get the baby back to sleep, so I really should do the same myself...
