Might be a gearbox fault, or something similar. Engine needs to be turned by hand, to see if seized.
Could be a real bargain.!

agreed need to see if engine turns - hydrolocked, as must assume sellers tried to get it going as vastly alters what it is worth. looks great though

,
We have ways of locating and contacting previous owners , the all important history file , sometimes tho the insurance companies recieve them back with the 2nd key and wont release them

Guys,
May be wrong with this, but I think the car has water damage.....The one I've seen was submerged, therefore treat with caution. It will need a rewire and engine rebuild if it's that one.
The car I'm on about it was up for auction last week. The salvage guys who bought it moved it on very quick, as they were going to loose a packet on it.
IMHO not worth anymore than £6-7k.

Was the one you saw the same spec Paul, engine re-build or replacement isnt a problem in my book , but if the cars been submerged then its a differenr story i totally agree , , could save meself a 200 mile round trip down there and back , you have private message

Hope its a different car Loz...Good luck mate...

Guy did tell me it wont turn by hand (they have already tried ), but i'll take me tools down anyway remove the plugs and try again , its been known for the water to remain in the bores preventing it turning over , ive got a long plastic syringe (trukey baster) to draw it out , internally all depends on how far it might have been submerged, footwell fuse box etc

I found the advert from when it was being sold as a 1 owner car by a (non-Maserati) main dealer with 11k miles at £42k. I expect that history would be easily traceable. Even if it needed replacement engine and full wiring loom it's got to be worth way more than PaulM's £6-7k estimate. Very rare breakers so has a fairly decent intrinsic value.

If it needs a new wiring loom then i suspect it needs ecu'c as well , thats where it can get awfully expensive, and after chatting with Paul im inclined to pass on this one , It was the car he view physically and he said it was swimming in it internally possibly upto the steering wheel , that means most of the ecu's will have been submerged eeeeek , I do like a challenge as most of you know but i dont need a re-occurring headache , price of co-codamol these days i wouldn't be able to afford to run the dammm thing

Yep, if it's flood damage then can often be longer term niggly problems even after repair. Still got to be worth more than £6-7k even as a breaker though.

Nigw.....
That was my opinion of the value !
Let's see what Loz has to say about it.
£8k on e-bay.....go for it and we'll see who's right !

Guys.......
If people are after cars don't go around broadcasting it. You may think it's good for posts, I think it's mad ! You all have enough knowhow / knowledge about these cars.
Source it, View it, buy it then tell people what you have bought !
There are 100's of guests on the forum.......you may think it's good on the interchange of information, it doesn't always work !
Sorry to upset anyone but it had to be said !
Take Loz looking at the last reso........did someone log on as a guest see it and think I'll get in there before he gets back from Le Mans ??????
Just an example !

This is a 'back to shell'' strip down, and replace. Now if you had a smashed donar car, you could make this a good car again. Still worth doing, but time consuming.
Engine strip, or replace. Gearbox similar. All running gear stripped. Interior replaced. Wiring and all modules. Starts sounding not to bad, lol!!!

There's always another bargain to be found , if i did it for a living then for sure it would pay and be necessary to be discreet , but ive spent a a little while away from the hubub and looking for another to do project , if someone who hasn,t got a masser feels the need to jump in front, then i havent got a problem with that , not really wanting to be part of a dog eat dog world at my age , far too many other important things to worry about , great believer in fate , obviously ive done the rounds and spoken to a few others that know of the car , was needing it confirming and David Askew kindly did that
