Nigw.....
That was my opinion of the value !
Let's see what Loz has to say about it.
£8k on e-bay.....go for it and we'll see who's right !

Guys.......
If people are after cars don't go around broadcasting it. You may think it's good for posts, I think it's mad ! You all have enough knowhow / knowledge about these cars.
Source it, View it, buy it then tell people what you have bought !
There are 100's of guests on the forum.......you may think it's good on the interchange of information, it doesn't always work !O
Sorry to upset anyone but it had to be said !
Take Loz looking at the last reso........did someone log on as a guest see it and think I'll get in there before he gets back from Le Mans ??????
Just an example !

Erm, see if I'm right? A car is worth what soneone is prepared to pay. Surely if I said i thought it was more than your estimate of £6-7k and it's already up to £8k then I'm already right?!

As for people not posting or discussing cars for sale, I'm afraid that's just the nature of the internet. I find it helpful that Frank posts up links. Surprisingly enough, eBay gets a few more hits per day than this site so I'm sure anybody seriously looking will have already spotted it and make their own decisions. I seem to recall you yourself commenting on other cars previously as well. All part of a brand-specific forum I'm afraid.

Knowledge is king. Because It came on this site, Info unknown on this 2007 car[car taking a bath], came to light. Had someone gone to see it with less knowledge, could of payed over the odds.

One would have thought that if it was a straight hydrolock then the car being 2007 and approx value of around £30K tops (market value not forecourt ) then full repair at main dealers would have been viable and a considered option , partial /fully submersed would have guaranteed write off

I bow down to you  you are so right :banghead1: !
What do I know about cars !

The point was one of simple arithmetic. £8k is more than £6-7k!

Re what you know about cars, I have no idea (and moreover have no interest in knowing, before you feel obliged to write another long and rambling post!).

If its on insurance, as stolen recovered, then it can be taken off, and be then worth more money, as long as work has been correct. I think this car is a cat D or C, not stolen recovered. Needs checking.

Right to clarify a few pointers having just returned from viewing the car , and previously doing a few checks , yes the car is cat D , if it was stolen recovered would have been cat X , so yes damaged was sustained to the engine whilst in the process of being stolen hence the cat D , now as i was led to believe by persons unamed .......:argue1: they will know who they are .....:f7: the car was said to have been swimming in water possibly up to the steering wheel , which really perturbed me , know one in their right mind would be trying to palm off a car that had been that deep in water without some water/tied marks to the interior ...........ive seen a few cars that have been in the drink so i know what to look out for , what you can hide and what you cant

Yes its Hydrolocked , but one of the cleanest engine bays ive ever seen , not a single solitary spec off the rocker covers ( and yes probably its been jet washed ) but still mega clean

Discs are just a tad covered in rust not much tho , and sincerely not as bad as my own GS that had been sitting still for 5 months before i bought that

Interior is unmarked , and i mean unmarked
Fuse/ relay and ecu area under the passenger footwell bone dry , even had the fuses and relays out wiped with tissue , not a sign of any dampness

Fingers underneath the carpets and quilting bone dry on the passenger side , but on the drivers side very slight dampness , nothing major , no smells of damp or muskiness

All electrics work and yes i checked the dammm lot , only fault i found was that the passenger window was not lifting up the half inch when the door was closed , but thats a reset issue and nothing major

So the only lights left on the dash were the CEL which as expected wouldn't go out unless the engine was running which obviously it cant at this stage

Service history and packs are present along with the V5 but they and have been are damp , i was told that they were in the wallet which was under the drivers seat , when i felt there , i found a pair of glasses and a large clump of tin foil commonly known as a rather large stash , was embarrasing to say the least

So would i bid for the car from what ive seen , probably yes but it will be a no go i fear , the guy offered me a deal there and then , when i left MK the bidding was at £8K so my thinking was wait for the auction to finish and then show my hand , cheekily i offered £10K and he refused said he was wanting £16K or if not he would put an engine in himself and sell it for £25K ......................bit pie in the sky is my thinking but hey what do i know , we'll have to wait and see

On another note , sure i read somewhere that the auction was a no reserve therefore it would go to the highest bidder and cannot be withdrawn , is that the case never bought a car on ebay

Hope that answers a few questions

regards loz

Loz, no reserve means nothing....If if doesn't get to the desired price I would have thought they would get a friend to bid on it....Then you will see it up for sale again a few weeks later..

Yeah if there is no reserve then it will go to the highest bidder. Although the seller can withdraw the auction up to 24 hours before in ends and they could probably refuse to sell if they didn't want to....

Will watch it and see , the guy selling had a rather nice set up , very smart farm with a few acres and about a dozen 6 car units all full of high end salvage , he's not short of a few quid and drives a 599 and Range Rover sport, well what essex boy wouldn't , cant see him dropping to sell it quick, he offered me a deal as he had a 4200 on an 03 plate also hydrolocked , same colour as Safranes was and the interior ,the 2 for £20K then he dropped to £18K but i just didn't want the 4200 , so anyone wanting a 4200 that needs an exchange lump and some tlc , its yours for £4K

Well, there are a few bidding on this one, I don't see the point about bidding against other forum members, it will just inflate the price.

I suggest you have in your head the max price you wish to pay then stick it in, in the last 30 seconds.

Saying that, I am interested myself, but I know Loz wants it so won't get in the way.

My price is fixed, with the cost of poss repairs it would be worth it to me, but if it goes over then good luck to whoever gets it...as long as it's not a trader who puts a huge mark up on it later.
