The ceramic core will break up if there is physical damage to the cat body, and it can also break up if the car runs with the AFR too low as the result of a poor remap or other fault.

If the issue is down to there being no escape for the broken cat material due to the secondary cat, then the issue will occur regardless of which exhaust type is fitted.

One final note. When filling your refurbished subframes with Dinatrol, be sure to seal over the holes with some Sikaflex 221. I didn't. A session on the steam cleaner restored cleanliness, but what a bloody mess it made!

Finally back together, just fitted these with an X pipe / no resonator plus new o2 sensors.

A bit more growl, look forward to a dry day to see if there is much performance gain, the weight will make a difference as the factory items are hefty.

Ground clearance?!!

I thought the same! But all good and clears the rack, sub frame, roll bar with no issues.

I don't do speed bumps anyway!

Don't know why upside down???

Anyway merry Christmas!

You can see from this pic why I'll do the front frame next year...

It sits about an inch lower than the anti roll bar and strut brace.

Positive effects massive improvement in low rpm (and overall) throttle response. Also it unleashes a rather nice sound in the mid range around 3-4k rpm

Lost the photos, or is it my URL blocker?

C

Maybe it is I just used the links from my old thread as I couldn't upload at the time http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/21653-Race-Cats-Fitted!

They look fine, are they lower than the front spoiler? difficult to tell.
Whose are they?

I will take a photo and upload when I'm back in the UK from next Thursday. I got them made by Josh at Berkshire garage he's done a few forum cars now (16 and counting I believe)... I went back and got a custom x pipe. The clamps are not correct on it so I'm going to get a set of 4 from hills engineering next year

Gp79, is that the pump up ramps from CJ autos you`re using? did you do the rear using just them and axle stands?

Yes, but also used 3 trolley jacks and a transmission jack on wheels. What makes it harder is you have to slide the subframe backwards to disconnect the torque tube from the box.

See the set up below.

You'll need 4-5 weeks being realistic just for the rear, I spent a lot of time under the body replacing clips / brake pipes etc.

Well worth doing if yours has been used in the salt.

Good luck!

You can delete mine from that 16 as I had to get mine re-done properly.

Before.

After. A vast improvement.

Awesome work Arnie, and equally good write up.
Halfway through reading this on page 10 but asking question before I forget. Rebuilding front right suspension on my 3200 GT AC - which has same / similar wishbone.

Does the lower balljoint have a flat, so that bolt can be tightened? Fitted new wishbone and balljoint is spinning before nut is anywhere near tight. Suspect the insert in my upright (hub carrier) was "stretched" in the vigorous disassembly.

UPDATE: Some pics of mine as it goes back together...

Front bumper repainted, refitted, loose headlight reattached properly which should please Matt,

Front Suspension going back together- waiting on some upright bits being plated before I can put them back on.

Rear subframe and gearbox going on later tonight.

Mine went back together without the joint spinning. It was a very tight fit in the upright and the joint only closed as I tightened the nut. Does the balljoint locate all the way into the upright with ease? I suggest some aerosol freezing on the upright to stop it spinning pref with the joint apart, then try refitting.
