Hey guys!

Very excited to be soon getting my first ever Maserati and getting to know you fine folks! Had a quick test drive yesterday at H.R. Owen in London and fell in love with this beauty.

That is gorgeous, and proof (if ever it were needed) that the Strad wheels look the bollox on a GTS. If I was buying new I *think* that's probably the exact colour / wheel / interior colour spec I'd go for (assuming the inside is black). When will you collect it?

Welcome, Soleith, to the joys owning a Maserati and the joys of this forum. You'll found both to be a good antidote to the other...

Many thanks everyone! I'm off to Canada tomorrow so will likely collect it in about a week and a half, just before Xmas.

Yeah, originally I was planning to buy a GT next year but then found out that they've stopped production for the UK :(

Thankfully this was the exact colours I wanted to choose, it was a bit more expensive than one I'd have specced myself though as it has quite a few carbon fibre options but HR Owen took care of me. Can't wait!

Thanks! Brooklands isn't too far from me, quick jaunt down the A3. Are there lots of forum meets? Will probably need to figure out if there's an owners club or something.

New car, always nice.

I would look at registering on the 1st of January as it will make the car very rare, one of very view 2017 GranTurismos.

There's an owners club but not as active as here, 2017 will probably see the usual annual meets such as the the Orchard/Ace Cafe meets, Brooklands, Horsham, Bruntingthorpe, Le Mans, and there's a Spanish Trip being planned for next year, it's all early days but you can get up to speed here...

Thanks so much! Lots of forum exploring to do. Years gone by I used to go down to let mans, not been in quite a while now (maybe 10 years or so since I last went!) May have to think about going again. Brooklands much easier to convince the Mrs about XD

So excited now can't sleep, head is whirling with all the possibilities!

Many thanks moderator! I definitely look forward to meeting everyone and sharing in the joys (and I'm sure reliability gremlins!) Of my first piece of Italian motoring exotica.

Lots of questions whirling around in my head now and can't sleep so figured I may as well ask some of them XD

Highest on the list is do any of you have any particular recommended insurers for this kind of car? My normal policy with aviva won't let me change the car online for anything over £75k without calling them up so need to wait for tomorrow now :/

Also wondering am I only supposed to use super unleaded for these?

How is the continent for super unleaded in that case? I've never really thought to look out for it when driving abroad but I guess it would be everywhere just like here.

So nervous about parking it in Guildford town centre, took out the dings and chips insurance for 3 years from H.R. Owen, do you guys look for special places to park your beloved cars when out and about away from home?!

What kinds of attitudes can you expect from people while driving one? I'd hope it may be a bit nicer than some other sports cars.

Finally, what do you guys all do when not being car lovers? I'm in finance and love cars and PC gaming (yeah I know, big kid).

Quick answers :)

Leaded vs Super. The debate rages. The manuals are quite clear that they are perfectly happy running on normal. Some claim an improvement running on super. Personally I've seen no difference.

Yes I park mine somewhere where I hope it won't get dinged.
Mostly (in fact wholly) people love it. I have never had a car which causes such positive reactions. Enjoy! :)

I'm Head of Operations for one of Experian's 'Product Capability Units' which mostly means I manage a team of excellent technical people who keep a load of systems running :) When I'm not doing that I'm listening to music, or teaching Wing Chun. Sometimes both at the same time :)

Can't help on the insurance thing, as I have mine insured through a scheme my job offers that allows me to insure any car, any driver for just over £850 pa.

I'm fairly new to Maserati ownership, so there are many more experienced on here, but I don't use Super Unleaded. When I bought the car I was expecting to need to, but was told there was no point as the engine ICU doesn't recognise the difference.

On the reactions from others, all I've had is admiring looks, and people wanting to know what typical of car it is. I even had a lovely old lady, must have been close to 80, stop and offer to help me reverse into a car park space, and then told me what a lovely looking car it was... as such, I would not be worried about the reaction from others.

Finally, in terms of life outside cars, I'm a partner in one of the large professional services firm, and am trying hard to get myself fit enough to run the London Marathon next year...
