Will a generic length of cooling hose not fit the Saab? Did that on the Golf and it lasted for five years before I replaced the set.

Glorious day by grim north standards.

Exhaust tips cleaned on both cars. Ghibli will need a a final shine but I'll do that at Oulton Park when we get there on Monday.

Now waiting for a delivery before a trip somewhere. Will have to be north to avoid the craziness around the A64/A1(M) junction.

Or could go mad and head south to Lincoln. Decisions, decisions lol

Err...YES. Yet another reason for my disbelief at incompetence!

I've finally had a hire car sorted for me... Just awaiting a taxi to collect it. But they also just told me that oh actually, you car's repatriation with take a fortnight.

**** and bugger, Stevie. What a pain in the ar5e! Good luck... I hope it's not too horribly laborious.

Stuck in a queue to get to the dump at the moment, back of the car jammed solid with old shite. This afternoon we're off to look at a Fiat 500 twin-air which Mrs Crud has found. It's a demonstrator so should be well-spec'd, but I was looking for a few year old one, not a few months old. Let's see what deals are to be had on this last weekend of the quarter and before the new number plate "year" kicks in.

Have a good day, all. Happy detailing, Newton.

Good morning everyone, I've had a very productive morning, haircut, Screwfix for more diy stuff. Sold that safe for 3 figures, and an old fridge freezer for 2. Barbecue this afternoon at some old work mates house and typically it's overcast with a chance of rain...

Oh my goodness, this story gets more farcical...
I decided I'd do some chasing... It took the whole morning of going through the UK breakdown people, being told one thing, then not getting put through to the European team (a few times). When I eventually found someone who could *do* anything, I had to point everything out to them and explain the whole situation again. Turns out that information that did exist about my car had vanished.
Anyway, I pointed out that we're in France and that at 11:50am they only had 10 minutes to arrange things for me. Finally they went and organised a hire car to get me to Calais tomorrow.
A taxi was sent to collect me for this, arriving an hour late, and then drove me to the hire place and dropped me of. It had closed. My only option was to go back on hold music for another 25 mins of hold to tell them to sort this out because they'd now stranded me in the middle of nowhere in a strange country and I just want to be able to get home.
A kindly gent was eventually dispatched to open the hire centre for me and whilst there I had to make two additional calls to the rescue people to do simple things like send through a fax confirming the booking.
Well, I finally have a Renault Twingo, and we're just going to overload the mustang with stupid amounts of luggage for the ferry crossing when I'm on foot and decant it straight back into another British hire car on the other side.
Oh, and then there's the bit where they only told me today that repatriation of Lottie would take 15 days. Errrr, not an option. I think I'll tell them to fly me back to the car for next week when I need to go to France in business.
Thanks go to the rescue people for making my holiday really really stressful.

Just arrived in Annecy! What a stunning stunning place!

Uncle has an appartment in Talloires, Annecy, is indeed lovely both in summer and winter.
Presently visiting the sister in law in Bordeaux, trying to cope with 35 degree C and no a/c!

Well stayed down the garage all day, didn't stop other than to scoff lunch when it arrived, cleaned the wheels, clayed them, mixed up the closest match of touch up I could and set about the mammoth task of joining the remaining paint! Cleaned, clayed and waxed the front brakes, waxed the front wheels and put them back on and then had to come in for dinner! Rest of the car will be a doddle after that...

Oh yes and all four centre cap tridents fell off! So will need to find some suitable glue tomorrow.

But my day was easy compared to Stevie's. Good luck getting home fella.
