I’m doing the retro thing as well these days, and it’s easy to see how far cars have come in the last 30 years.

Afternoon all. Just working out how to use my Go Pro.

I reckon I might be up and running by the time we get to Le Mans!

They are dead simple to use, it's turning them on and making sure they have recorded that is the hard part! :D

On what? It's fast enough and has Power Steering.
You're car might have but there are some older cars out there with no power steering & not particularly quick racks that are hard to stop going when they go. My mate knows all about it

Now I've watched a few You Tube tutorials I now agree. Only easy when you know how!
Will work out where to put the camera on the Maser now. Inside or out?

I bought one of those attachment kits from amazon which has a shed load of holders (bike mount, car mount, helmet mount, float device) and mounts for only a tenner or so and there is something there for everything. I attached one to the outside rear but it got too near the exhausts and melted the buttons on the gopro!!!!! so be careful, also I'd advice you somehow tether it if you do mount it on the outside too (bungy chord?). Suction mount to the window is probably your safest bet.....

The guy who had my 4200 before me had loads of mounts on the car I think I'll keep it inside. I'd be too concerned about it falling off otherwise!

Morning,

Looks cold again. Had a four wheel slide on a corner yesterday. Caught it with a bit of opposite lock and drove a little steadier for the rest of the day.

On the GoPro. I have a suction mount just to the left of the mirror on the inside for view going forward, another with a tether facing backwards in the middle of the bumper, to get the exhaust note, and sometimes a third on a door. I have a GoPro for the inside and cheap £20-30 cameras on the outside. Have problems with getting the outside ones to record sometimes, but mostly that works.

Back in the office today.

Have a great day all

Morning all,
-5 in Thirsk, and it seems a lot of people have forgotten how to de ice there cars. Unreal. A guy was stopped at a roundabout. I'm guessing he could not see out of his drivers side window. I could t see him through the passenger one.
Amazing. Numpties all over.
Groundhog Day for me.
Enjoy your week

Good morning everyone, dreading today for some reason. I've been in work over Christmas and after having a great birthday weekend with the Mrs, I just don't want to go to work.

Still in bed...

Morning all, had to give it best last evening as the hyperthermia was making me sloppy on the lathe and that wouldn’t end well! Got my grandson today so I’m kicking off taking him to a car dealership (ok it’s only Volvo to collect some specialised oil for the transfer box) then to the scrap yard to get shot of over half a mile of old steel core rope!

Have fun all...

Morning all.

Mark, glad you and the GTS survived. Handling a slide is always harder when you're not expecting it. Relatively easy if you're buggering about. We did a forum wet handling course at Rockingham a few years ago - well worth it, learned loads. Re GoPro mounting, there's no one answer - you really need a few and then edit the best angles. If you want to record the exhaust then mount a mic on the back bumper. Anywhere else you'll just get wind noise and if you mount it inside you'll just record your Wizard of Oz soundtrack off the stero. You can always delete unwanted audio in post, but you need the exhaust for context. Probably the best all round spot is cente top of the windscreen. Use a biece of kite line to tether it if you need to, but those mounts are bomb-proof. Have a look at this and this.

First proper day back at work today. Have some **** stuff to do this afternoon, otherwise mostly catching up and trying to get some plans straight for the next year. Opticians this morning, too.

Still mostly dark outside... roll on spring!

PS - Chris, best wishes to Mrs C. Hope she livelies up soon.
