To Buy or Not To Buy? That is the question?

Interesting. If it was my car, with a blown 4.2 and a decent 4.7 to go in, then I'd no doubt be very happy with the outcome and I'd do it. BUT, that would only be on the basis of it being a keeper, since I'd know it would be a pig to sell. Would I buy a conversion done by someone else with a few missing parts to the story? No.

Agree Drew, I would also put a 4.7 in if I had a QP that needed an engine....

I think the price would have to be bloody good to buy this one though and start with a 1 not a 2........inspection and as I said lots of digging needed. I does sound like he is a decent seller though from what has been said above from someone else has said.

IMO, Maseratis are expensive cars to maintain at the best of times one that has been modified no matter how well will just increase those costs and hence I would stay well clear regardless of price.

Thanks to everyone that expressed their views. The question of insurance of a modified Maserati proved the most compelling issue in the end and I have decided to accept the wisdom of most (in fact all) who commented and pass on this car. All of your comments are much appreciated. I think my story now has a happy ending for me at least though - as I have sourced a 2008 fully auto QP Exec GT with just two owners 4 stamps in the book and only 35k miles. I haven't seen a better one - as straight. It's black with tan interior. I am pushing to complete the deal before Xmas - so hoping everything goes to plan. I think I paid a cracking price too!

Very nice, I do like the combination of black and the toffee colour interior

When you see some of the colour choices people have made on the used market they must have lost a packet on the first trade in

Yes really like the piping - if only it had been specified on mine as well. And I love the wooden steering wheel too! Enjoy!

Congrats Adrian. Enjoy your new car and nice to see your Maserati owners story had a happy ending for you after the previous trials and tribulations. Enjoy and get yourself down to Bruntingthorpe in the summer.
