After more than 30 years, more than 50 cars and more than a million miles of driving mainly German cars, I have finally taken the plunge and allowed my heart to rule my head and buy a car that I have yearned for for nearly 10 years. I can still remember being seduced by the lines of the QP when it was launched and I am delighted to finally have this piece of automotive art in my possession. It replaces a 5.5 biturbo E63 and a long line of M5, M6, C63, RS6, etc, all impressive in their own way but ultimately sold. The only exception is my 993, bought 12 years ago and still a great analogue driving experience!

Anyway, I spent many hours trawling this forum for advice and guidance and really appreciated a chat with Richard Grace, who unfortunately sold the car I wanted before I got to him! Thanks for encouraging me Richard!

My car was delivered by JCT600 this morning and I was very impressed as the car was unloaded by what for all intent looked like a new car, despite being 4 years old! Having covered 150 miles on a fair variety of roads today confirmed what a great drive these cars are. Highlights; the noise...the steering....the noise....the balance (front mid engine?).....the noise.....the seats.....the noise.....the head turning looks and of course the noise it makes. Less than highlights; the ride (compared to the E63), still cannot attach my iPhone to bluetooth, the iPod/iPhone connector does not charge the phone, less than intuitive Sat nav......so nothing really important!

So no regrets and genuinely excited about the prospect of Maserati ownership!

Cheers, Guy

Well done guy! Once prodded by the trident there is no going back! I have had all RS's and M cars so can relate to your driving experiences, however good the 993 is the Maser will give you joy in a whole different way. Passion, pure passion!

Welcome Guy and a very good call. I've had mine just over 4 years and I'll never get rid of her. She has certainly seen some action and will, hopefully, see a lot more and she has been responsible for most of my memorable driving experiences. Smashing through the Alps with the roof down and an open exhaust is motoring nirvana. Maserati is more than just a car, it's a lifestyle. And what style it has.

A warm welcome to the forum Guy and to Maserati ownership, you will not look back..!! QP is an excellent car and as you say will definitely turn heads, nothing like a Beamer or a Merc, they are so common..!!

The iPod connector will never charge your phone if you are using a newer kind with a lightning connector. It does not push out enough power.

Congrats Guy and welcome to the Forum.

I too went German for a while. Happy to say I have no regrets coming back to the Italian fold.

They really get under your skin these cars. As you say - The looks, the sound.

And best of all, their exclusiveness. Just don't see many around.

And that name. Magic. Up there with Aston and others for mine.

Welcome Guy. If you got the car from JCT does that mean you are in Leeds or somewhere close by? If so get yourself registered on Leeds SuperCar Meet and join in the fun. I got mine from there as well and they were very helpful.

Look forward to seeing you around.

Cheers.

Thanks for all of your welcome messages! I will of course post some photos when it stops raining long enough to wash and get my camera on it. I take encouragement from all of your enthusiasm!

Thanks for the update re the iPod connector, I'll just have to steal one of the children's iPods for music and charge the phone from the lighter.

I would love to join the Leeds SuperCar meet but I am actually on the Berks/Wilts border. Finding a low mileage GTS limited my choice to Leeds, Aberdeen and the Chester such seems to be their rarity.

The spec sheets published by Andyk were very helpful but there seems to be an omission around the Sat Nav option. Mine has a Bose head unit, whilst others a Marelli, which was standard. The standard spec is very high compared to German cars though my Nero Carbonio car's original buyer seemed to find over 10k of extras to add! I am not normally bothered for sun roofs but this one doesn't cause much buffeting and allows more of the glorious exhaust music into the car!

Roll on some dry weather and I'll take some photos.

Welcome, QP is a great choice.

Maseratis make a noise? Do they? I can't hear anything over the sound of the exhaust :)

You missed a good run out to Whitby last weekend Doohickey. QP always looks like Captain Sensible amongst this lot!

I think we should target Newby Hall on 10th May for a good Maserati turnout. it could be a good Northern get together.

Yes - was gutted I couldn't make it but am definitely going to make the April one. I should be at Newby as well but it's my son's birthday so I need to convince him he wants to get up early and spend his day there. He enjoyed the one at Lotherton so there's a good chance.

See you in a couple of weeks if you are on the April run.

Cheers.
