Washing advice?

Go to Detailing World .co.uk and you will truly be enlightened, either that or be shocked that there's so much to washing a casr and also annoyed at how many times the word "dwell" is used!!

For drying without smears/blotches - you need a Quick Detailer. Once you've removed the majority of water, spary on the Quick Detailer and wipe it off with a MicroFibre cloth along with the remaining moisture. You end up with a dry and streak free car.

Wow: what have I started...? A whole new world of fun awaits...

Gotta knock out a bunch of work and then compile a shopping list. Sheepskin mitt, Maguires gold, might go nuts for a new microfibre towel and some acqua wax perhaps to get me started. How long before the missus gives up on me and runs off with the neighbour?

An Autoglym full valeting pack!

note previous quote from Enzo on Autoglym; its OK and I guess you'll find that out as you get into cleaning (you've already started by expressing an interest), buy better now to avoid disappointment. Maguire's may seem a little more expensive but you (generally) get what you pay for and you'll notice the difference by the appearance of your car.

I bought a wax pack (dojo juice wax is great) and practiced on the other half's car first... She couldn't believe it was the same car; Wash, dry and towel, lime prime paint prep and polish off, then wax with dojo juice supernatural hybrid. Around 3-4 hours of work there. You might benefit from using a clay too - before the lime prime; it'll remove surface contaminants/tar/grit etc.

Good luck!

What a healthy collection of squeaky clean, beautiful cars we all must have!

Just to throw in an alternative, I'm really keen on Zymol shampoo and polish - gives a lovely finish and smells great too (honestly!). Have used it faithfully for the last 5 years or so ...

I use Dodo Juice as well..Love the stuff...

Hmmm. I'm more a fermented grape juice man, meself.

So. Work in progress. Meguiars gold wash and a slow dry with my new microfibre towel APPEAR to have solved the nasty watermark problem. Assistance with homework then intervened to prevent stage 2: quik detail spray...

Am I right in thinking the latter is an alternative to a full wax job - to be used on an interim basis??

So much to learn, so little time!

I like this stuff, produces great results and easy to use....

http://www.dodojuice.com/dodo-juice-detailing.html

Fascinating stuff: from my initiation using a bucket of fairy liquid to sluice off my stepdad's old Austin, I find a whole new world of potential obsession opening up before me...

Quite an amusing write-up of the whole process on that link, too! Just out of *ahem* casual interest, how much would it cost:

(a) to acquire a decent detailing 'kit' (if that's the correct expression), or

(b) to have some fellows who know what they're doing 'detail' a motor to full shiny splendour??

Alwyas safer to give it to the expert if you are a bit worry about it....but cheaper if you do it yourself and more satisfying.
