What would you do?

Hypothetical question. Let's say you've got a nice GS, which you really like, but you start hankering after something different. Let's say that if you sell your GS, you'd have around £50/60k to shell out on a car. At this price point, my options would be:

1) a GT, definitely an MC-Shift or wait a while and get in Strad territory;

2) a DB9 (maybe manual) or DB9 Volante or Vantage 4.7;

3) a Gallardo (an outrageous colour like orange or yellow);

4) a Ferrari f430 or 360 Modena.

I would discount an R8 or any Porker just because they do absolutely nothing for me.

What would you chose in this situation?

Personally, I would wait for a Strad but there are some fantastic options there. I would not however opt for either of the Ferraris and the Gallardo is very nice, my cousin has one, but the doors don't open properly and would you not hanker after a Murcielago after a while? The AM would be very tempting but with a Strad, you've pretty much got the best that Maserati has to offer so you MAY not be tempted elsewhere.
Just my thoughts of course

Urm nice problem to have ! Carnt comment on all the choices but recently done a track day in which I drove both the Lamborghini and Ferrari and i wouldn't touch the Lamborghini with a barge pole the Ferrari was so much nicer to drive compared to the heaven clunky Lamborghini , but of course Aston old mans car so it has to be the massa

Either GTS or 430. Depends on how many seats you need. Personally I wouldn't bother with a Strad because I think the GTS is just far, far better value. If it's two seats you want get a 430. In Grigio Silverstone.

You are mirroring my feelings and only one car for me....Stradale then the Alfieri if it ever materialises.

430, it's getting on now and suffers the same F1 clutch issues as our 4200's

Still very attached to my GS though and after it comes out of paint in a few weeks I will have it exactly where I want it after 2 years of fettling.

Going to buck the trend, in that dream world it would be an AM or top porker........beauty and power in both. Much as I like the GT in all its guises, a good one of these would top my list.........I'll get my coat :(

Leave your coat off, Greg. :smile: A good Porker is an amazing car. Only downside is it's less of an event than going out And enjoying the elegance and noise of a Maser. I love the sound of Voicey's 430 as well.

I don't want to sell the GS. But just lately I've been looking at what I'd like next, should the stars align. And once I start looking, I force the stars to align. I'd always planned on getting a variant of the GT but having seen Brettys blue Strad, I'm thinking its a Strad or nothing if I get a GT. I've always liked Astons and need to tick them off the list. And a Fezza is, well, a Fezza. Everyone wants a Fezza. I can't afford a California or an FF so need to look at the more affordable ones. Again, it's an itch that'll need to be scratched at some point. But if I keep the GS, I won't be disappointed.

Just done this very thing, selling the GS and have bought a GT MC Shift in the meantime.

Very happy indeed.

Same as Stu above ....at 65k you can get a Stradale...

Other than that Maserati GTS or Grancad or the Vantage..Vantage still on the the best looking best proportioned car on the car even after all these years........The Gallardo I love but prices start at 50k for probably not the best examples...Ferrara...Never a fan of the 360...drove one and it didn't inspire...430 is better but again can you get goo one fors 50k ?

430 is nice I have to admit. A strad though is pretty **** special. Right now if I could swap my GTS for one it's almost be my perfect car.

430 my first choice.
then a strad, but a 2 seat rollcage one
3rd choice a gallardo, but a manual.
360 .no.. they break down when parked... lol.
Astons do nothing for me.

Looks like Gallardos are closer to £70k and RHD 430s £75k. Don't know if I could see myself swapping the GS for a standard Aston - I like V12Vs and DBSs, but they're around £90k.

They're all very different cars - do you want a big, heavy GT or something sportier?

The other alternative is to keep the GS and get something very different for £30k like a Lotus Exige...

It's funny how cars divide people , I like looking at lamborghinis and ferraris but have no desire to own one
35k to spend, I'd keep the GS and buy a Jaguar XFR then spend the other 10k on petrol and trips to europe
