That’s really good well done!

So it can move and pivot then?

Thanks , yeah I made the top part of the vertical rod a thumb screw so it can pivot round and be locked in any position, then the whole thing can swivel around on the base , it all put together it's turned out nicer than I expected .

Wonder would a metal strapped watch slide round on it metal on metal so that the heavy part ended up at the bottom.

so now can you finish in a nice black leather or something on the top lol

Haha. I’d take one without the Maserati grill if you wanted a few beer tokens.

But either way a sterling effort we’ll done

That looks bloody brilliant .... top work. And I want one even though I don't think I would use it!

I have been following this thread with interest as I consider a watch stand to be something I would never use. Most of my automatics live in watch winders and the rest in a watch box as I try and wear all (well most) of my watches on a regular basis. And, even if I know I am wearing it again tomorrow, I will put it back in the box / winder.

I agree with this ^^^^^^

I think the prototype looks amazing, and I’m in awe of you for having been able to just create one from scratch. That said, I think it’s a solution looking for a problem, rather than something for which there’s any real need.

I still want one though!

Nice job sir. Looks fantastic. I cant help wondering if something 3-D printed might be more commercially attractive? :) I also suspect I might not use it. Having said that, I have a couple of smart watches and they come with little stands for when they are charging, and I have got used to having a watch on the bedside table positioned with the face towards you so you can read it. My Moto 360 sits on its side and the display rotates when its on the stand so you can read it. I know some people are easily pleased.

I had a similar lovely Christopher Ward watch when they first appeared. Gave it to our eldest for his 18th and he wears it all the time.

I really don't get diving watches. Does anyone who owns one even know what the bezel is used for? And what about the nitrogen release valves? When would you need that?

Ps I dive and don't have a dive watch!
