Again, it wasn't me that compared it unfavorably to a M3 performance-wise. I was just correcting a mistaken opinion stated as fact by several members on here.

And Matt, I'll cool my jets, but you might want to ask certain others on here to do the same!

And concerning why I'm selling my GS, I explained that on the other thread. Due to ill health, I am almost certainly now faced with early retirement and so keeping all of my cars for as long as I would have liked looks less sustainable. It was between the GS and my GS Spyder, and since the GS Spyder was my wedding car and has taken me on two wonderful European trips, it just has too many fantastic memories associated with it to let go.

Probably a good thing to have Wattie; given all the willy waving being done on this thread this morning!

Yup at the end of the day there’s a whole lot of passion on display in this thread.

Some of us approach passion with a semi.......see previous p9

Some of us are so passionate we get a little......tetchy.

At the end of the day, we’re all lovers.

Of Maserati.

Cheers Wattie

I saw a thread on an F forum, where much the same was asked. Spend A amount on this or B amount on that. By far the best answer was spend A, save 10k and spend it on hookers! Just a thought ;)

Great thread and whilst tit for tat comments are unfortunate, I can appreciate both sides of this "robust" discussion. The brand gets under your skin like no other (certainly not at this price point). To me much of this appeal is exactly the flawed diamond character of the cars in question.
I've been lucky enough to own a GS before my current GTS. Both cars make sense at 7/8 tenths of their potential. Push them to their limits and the chassis limitations become apparent (so say the experts as I drive like miss daisy!).
Even though the power to weight ratio of both cars are pretty much identical, the GS felt much sharper, chuck able and more responsive than the GTS. I think the GS 's rawness and responsiveness is amplified by the F1 box compared to the GTS's (albeit very good) slushamatic.
The GTS is a big car, I heard is has the same footprint as a Rangie, but to me this very size and that epic sound make driving the GTS much more of an occasion.
Just my 2 cents....

Your all good with me RWC. You shouldn't take the bait set by others. Don't worry about other peoples opinions....who cares. Yours is the only one that should matter to you.

My jets are cool and always cool. I am the calmest, coolest most patient person I know. Now and always. My work in the tech sector over the last 25 years demands that is the best way to be.

We all are lucky & blessed so I never lose sight of this. I come from humble begins and stay humble. These are clearly 1st world problems & in the grand scheme of things are clearly not issues. Who cares what anyone else thinks. I don't. As long as I can put my head on the pillow at night & sleep well that is all I care about.

The sensible answer would be to get the GS, drive it round for a bit till you get bored, then get the GTS. However we're men of the SportsMaserati forum and we're not sensible, if you are get a BMW. They go round corners but the indicators don't work.

My plan, (I haven't mentioned this to Mrs Capes yet) is when we move, get a Ghibli II and a GS to go with the GTS. That way I won't have to buy any more cars (for a while).

Might have to buy another house with more garage space though.

That way I've covered the lot!

But then in 2019/20/21/22/23/24/25/26/27* Maserati will come out with the Alfieri. Then what are you going to do?

Well, that's the daftest thing I've read in a bloody long time. Check your birth certificate. Check your veins. Make sure you're a bloke and that you have petrol coursing through your body, because what you typed just sounds plain daft. You might want to visist a doctor. If you're not cured by June, Le Mans should see you on the path to recovery.

It'll never happen so I don't have to worry.

You did note the (for a while) part? Mainly because I'll be skint!
After funds are replenished normal service will resume! ;)

Not driven a GTS, but always thought the looks were off the scale from the day it came out, have flirted with the idea of swapping the GS for one but won't fit in the garage so its a non starter. I'll have to get behind the wheel of one mind just to compare.

Had 2 GS's and 2 GTS (inc the current Strad) in alternation.

Enjoyed the plusses and minuses of both, it all ads to the attraction of the brand.

I am more interested in what comes next from Maserati over what they have already done TBH as I don't think it will be likely to go back to a GTS or GS if the incoming stuff is good. If its not, I am either going to stick (I don't stick very well) or go alternate Italian brand....more than likely a Bull...who needs two kidneys anyway!
