Been noticing GranTurismo parts are getting harder of late.
Current out of stock items are wheel bearings which is a major issue.
No stock in the UK and parts suppliers have them on back order and quoting 8 weeks!
A lot of thinks are not available due to the factory closed
On Granturismo parts not available at the moment
ABS sensors
Body panels
Bumpers
Headlights
Some engine parts no longer available
its happening the same way it happened on 3200 , 4200 & GS , QP and finally on Granturismo.
We will not be able to keep this car on the roads in the next two years the way it’s going
Agreed, same hereIts better for people to be aware of what they are getting in to , and also for owners to realise how much time we spent every day chasing and looking for parts .
It’s a never ending story .
I wondered about the wheel bearings when I needed one replacing. Is there a way of checking other car manufacturers to see who else shares a parts bin - I'd think FCA for a start? Surely Maserati and Ferrari aren't the only ones using that one part? I kept the old bearing for parts numbers etc but couldn't find anything on the web to check against, and when I researched the bearing manufacturer it got technical way too fast for me to understand.
That'll explain why I disappeared down a rabbit hole trying to find out anything then..... ThanksThis has been looked at before, they really are unique, not a parts bin special. Where most manufacturers use a hub that has a bearing pressed into it, these wheels bearing and assembled with the inner and outer races forming part of the housing and then the hub is penned over to retain it. Cannot be rebuilt and too made a design to be used in a mainstream car.
Cost and lead time of raw materials has increased exponentially. We have lead times on materials going from 1 month up to 12 months with a 5x to 10x price hike.
The knock on effect is that manufacturing lead times are increasing by 5x to 6x than the production lead time before COVID
Add to that the fact that Maserati/Ferrari are likely deemed not an "important client" due to their low volume orders compared to the larger auto manufacterers and it is likely that their orders will drop down the pecking order when the suppliers are trying to prioritise who gets their orders produced first
I was going to like this, because you are right. But I don't like it, so I won't. But you are right.
