Bought my Gransport 22 months ago and love it, decided it is a keeper and been considering spending £££'s on audio, and suspension to get it to my ideal.
But this spares issue is concerning an now thinking I may go to the new Lotus if I can get one, or Alfa Quadrifolla
I had an lotus esprit for many years, unless lotus has changed a lot parts that aren't shared with other manufacturers will be a pain. Though at least they use of the shelf engines now

Hi Matt, sorry for being sloe, so can a 4200 wheel bearing be used on a qp v , and is the bearing interchange all four corners?
Thanks David

No, it’s a different PCD sadly. The bearing is the same for all 4 corners.

Hopefully it’s a blip, currently a perfect storm of Italy being shut in august and Covid related delays.

Stellantis did surprisingly announce a while back they were going to start producing previously NLA parts for some Alfa Romeo’s, my 147GTA included, to keep them on the road. So hopefully there is someone in there interested in keeping their back catalogue alive.
I know the Italians have form for stopping making parts, but it would set a new low if QP and granturismo bits were phased out already.
What happened to the 10 year minimum rule after cars go out of production?

So can we use the 4200 bearing and swap to using their wheels too?

If the ABS sensor connector is the same, then yes, with the usual caveats around wheel offset etc. This isn’t for 3200 though as I think they are different again.

I could be wrong, but when I was looking at 4200 bearings, the flange on a 4200 is square, and on QP and GT they are rectangular.

I don’t think so. Both look the same to me.

Hey Zep, thanks for keeping me straight. When I was researching hub bearings, I found a Volvo one with pcd of 5x108 that was almost identical, but it was the one with the rectangular flange. So you are correct, Thanks again.

Yes, I’ve seen that the Volvo is the only car with the same PCD as the Coupe, but that’s about the only thing that’s the same!

While we're on part interchange, does anyone know if a QPV and 4200 radiators interchange?

My local garage had suggested a Volvo hub as the cheaper option for my GC ( this was from memory), however as it was already in HR Owen for a service he said to get it done there, which is what I did. He was honest enough to say it was a enough of a hassle that he didn't really want to do it.

Yikes. I bet he was pleased when you accepted the “let someone else do it” option!

This pic summs up Porsche vs Maserati in this area. At the Porsche Festival today they were handing out the previous 4 years classic parts hardback book which includes stories of how they decide which new classic parts need to be made, how they make them and progress reports on classic restorations that the factory has decided to undertake (from base Carreras to Carerra GTs). Their commitment to keeping every car they manufacture on the road forever is front and centre. Seems to be a financially successful strategy for them so why don’t Maserati get it?90087

That’s largely because they happened to find the moulds in the factory, rather than any concerted effort. They only did the Delta ones a year or so ago because someone literally tripped over them in the old part of the factory, allegedly.

Update on the GT/QP hub bearing, I have heard back from the factory via my dealer and wheel bearings will not be available till 2022.

They have not given a week either.

This is going to be a massive issue for owners come this winter as failure rates increase.

I also expect that when or if they come back into stock we need to prepare ourselves for a price hike.

There is one bearing in Germany on EBay for £1200 plus shipping and some used ones in the US.

What this means that any customer phoning us up with the usual ABS/ASR/Traction lights it’s not even worth us having them in. This means anyone with this issue is snookered.

When you think about Maserati still have warranty on run out cars for another 2 years and won’t be able to fix them, it’s very poor.

I am thinking about having the bearing made with a screw in ABS sensor which can be replaced when it fails rather than the whole hub. Not a simple one.
