The company that makes the bearings are SKF. Without googling it, I know they are a giant company, where are they based?

It's ****, it's this sort of scenario that can put people off buying into the brand, as a company, nothing short of suicidal to me.
That's why I'm considering a move to a German brand that actually supports it's older models.

Based is something of an amorphous concept these days, but I believe the parent is Swedish

Never in my days would I have thought GT/QP owners would have to go through what us 3200 owners have being going through for years, parts supply, it gets more difficult year after year to keep these things on the road, to the point where its just not worth the hassle. But it is!!! ;) for now at least....

SKF = England

According to .com global website

Curious but not arguing

SKF is a Swedish company the S is Svenksa

Which is what I thought.

But multinationals are just that....

I have to say that I'm a little concerned. For various potential reasons I may be looking to be back in the brand for a high class mile muncher (18mpg Bentley!!!!), although this is by no means a done thing. It doesn't bode well

I dont mean to carp but I think it's sort of funny...! Maserati get full marks for cheek. You wouldnt accuse them of being precious about their cars - (some might think there's little to be precious about of late anyway.?!)

"Yes, but what do I do with my old 78's...?"
"You wot grandad!"

I can’t find the email but if my memory serves me right SKF is the same company that produce Maserati control arms.
I enquired about purchasing directly from them 2 years ago & they couldn’t even bother to reply.

Control arms would be OCAP. The problem I see with this is SKF like every manufacturer these days will have a massive backlog and they are being kicked in the **** by global shortages of steel and copper. As these bearings are fairly unique and probably require the use of an old machine in the corner of the factory, it’s going to be low on their list.

No harm in asking, but I’d expect short shrift.

Update on the GT/QP hub bearing, I have heard back from the factory via my dealer and wheel bearings will not be available till 2022.

They have not given a week either.

This is going to be a massive issue for owners come this winter as failure rates increase.

I also expect that when or if they come back into stock we need to prepare ourselves for a price hike.

There is one bearing in Germany on EBay for £1200 plus shipping and some used ones in the US.

What this means that any customer phoning us up with the usual ABS/ASR/Traction lights it’s not even worth us having them in. This means anyone with this issue is snookered.

When you think about Maserati still have warranty on run out cars for another 2 years and won’t be able to fix them, it’s very poor.

I am thinking about having the bearing made with a screw in ABS sensor which can be replaced when it fails rather than the whole hub. Not a simple one.
That is worrying. I guess what we have to gauge is whether it is temporary or the start of the 3200 issue. Given the amount of GT/GCs sold it must be the former??????

You'd wonder though just what sort of quantities Maserati have been ordering, only a few hundred at most at a time? I enquired in general last year about parts availability for the GT and had an official reply that said talked about EU regs making car parts available. I did forward them on a thread from here at the time stating their support for old models was hardly exemplary .
Each car needs 4 hubs, I'd order some to have spares, so between us all, SportsItalia, Marios etc you'd think in the UK alone we could order a similar quantity as Maserati did or at a few hundred units maybe enough to find the machine in the corner? Other than the fact for a business it'd be an outlay with money tied up in stock you'd think it was doable, or perhaps that's just wishful thinking.

It’s temporary, they’ve been in short supply before. There’s loads being sold on ebay and plenty about if you ask around.
