Mixed views and perceptions..................but we are clear....they are stubbornly sticking a the higher end of the residuals.......bugger the wait for the GTS....DMS the GT...stick a big brake set on her...and maybe the Larinis....:)

Dont wait until end of next year when you can have all the fun....in the autumn of this year!!!!

They are at the higher end but lets face i they should be as they are only two years old.....85k without extras new and the cheapest 2nd hand one is 50k...so 35k lost in 2 years....Glad I couldn't buy new.

Not sure whether it was Parkers or Which Magazine but the Granturismo was voted one of the best buys for keeping its value. Personally, I am sticking with Gransport until I can have the Granturismo S.

It may have good percentage residuals but remember that people who are buying new are getting trousered.

A new 4.2 GT would have been £82-85k minimum back in 57/08 plate land and these cars are now trading at £40-45k and retailing at £50-55k. Quite a drop for the first owner!

The question for me is how much a 57/08 plate 4.2 GT will drop in the next three years. Obviously you are losing £7.5-10k in gross dealer margin straight away but then what pa? £5k or £7.5k trade to trade annual depreciation? If it is the latter then I would still drop from £55k retail to £22.5/25k trade in three years, so hardly cheap again!

Agree with much of the comment here.

-used values of three year old 4.2 GTs appear not to be falling;
-but, stock appears to be selling slowly;
-these cars drink a load of fuel and everyone really wants the 4.7;
-as they get older, the 4.7s' get cheaper, thus pushing the 4.2s' down;
-where next? If a 57 plate 4.2 with sub 30k miles was £45k retail then I would be in, DMS remap, bigger front brakes* when the discs are due....off you go.

*Remember that the rear brakes on the 4.2 are the same as on the 4.7.

I like the sound of that. My 4200GT is due tax at the end of August, a service (thankfully just an annual) at the end of September and the summer tyres (they will go back on next month) will be done by that sort of time.

If anyone wants to pre-order my car then let me know:

-2005MY faceliftRosso Mondiale, black leather crossed stitched/piped in red, red carpets;
-Manual gearbox, heated/memory seats, xenons, nav, cruise, 7 spokes;
-FSH;
-March 2005 registered; and
-About 46,500 miles by August.

Mind you BB.....a DMS upgrade which combines the DBW up-grade too, .....worthwhile having as a selling point already on the 4200 by August?
