Stroll must be getting a little jumpy about Andretti entering F1 and stealing his dollars as they’ve announced Aston will return to top flight endurance racing in 2025, including WEC, LM and more importantly IMSA.

What time is the cut off for projections. Is it after first practise today which I think is midday ?

Well so the title is done and dusted, well done to Max on a fantastic season, without equal so far. Let’s see how good he (and the team) is (are) with a hangover.

I have a feeling that Hamilton might be quite aggressive as he doesn’t like to be outdone by Russell and he hasn’t had a good run lately in that respect. Alonso and Lewis is also always spectacle and Alonso is a great starter. We could see a late lunge and some barging, either at the start or between the two Mercedes‘s if Max makes a clean getaway.

It’ll be interesting to see what the tyre strategy is going to be given the abrasiveness of the track.

They can only use there for 18 laps today. They have put in a new rule for the race due to degradation. So at be least three pit stops.

Actual this could make today more interesting as some teams do not enough new tyres for today so if you use used tyres that comes off the 18 laps so we could see many stops today.

I got my 2/3 reversed and Max got the gentleman's set again...but come on, how many points will McLaren get, easy 5 points for the prediction.

Well well, Lewis nearly took George out, my prediction came out. For once Lewis took the brunt of a crash he caused and was out. Maybe he’ll learn. Piastri was again impressive as was Max, I wonder if Norris would have taken 2nd if he had been allowed to race.

Apart from 2nd (I had Perez…) I got the predictions right, but my drivers didn’t do that well - I had swapped Ham out for Sainz and finally got rid of Sargeant, so that’s minus 20 points for me.

Well working out positions was interesting during the race, the 18 laps max made things different.

McLaren are on fire with both drivers on the pace, but other than the lap 1coming together Merc seem to have a similar pace. Lewis's attempt to go round the outside was bold and full of risk and he paid the price but if it had come off we would be applauding his bravery, that fine line between hero and zero.

There was little doubt that Max was going to be champion he is in a different league this season.

Great to see Lewis owning up to the accident and a great video of Lewis hugging Russel and saying it wasn’t your fault. Not all drivers would do that. So great overtakes and good to see McLaren so close to Max at the end but that has to be because of the 18 lap tyre rule. That heat was too much though. Lots of videos of drivers after the race getting out their cars or having to have help to get out of their cars.

Dan had a great day and moved up to second and myself third. My Alex is confused as on the face of it he should have moved up as well but stayed 9th. He had the race projection spot on plus fastest lap. No idea how the point work as I though I didn’t have a good day. Dan is actual now under 100 points away from Tallman who was storming ahead at one stage. It is all to play for.

The points are strange, I thought I had done alright but dropped 2 positions not having Piastri was the difference to those who scored really well.

And the alternative scoring, some significant changes with the numbers 2&3 dropping down the order the last couple of races and Dan racing up. If you get the full prediction you end up with 100 points, a bonus of 10 for the full podium and another 15 for getting the rest right as well.

Agreed, I had the correct racers but necessarily in the right order...( to quote Eric!). I would have though that a Podium combo would be getting those 3 drivers correct...

I just looked it up - You need to get the podium in the right order for the bonus. I had it once, the first round I believe. So podium combo is worth 15 points and Super Combo (everything right) gets you another 15 points. So the maximum you can get for predictions is 100 points, not easy to do.

Having your driver in front of his teammate gets you 5 bonus points for the race and 5 quali points for qualifying, with a sprint counting as a race as well. Teams get 2 points for 1 car finishing and 5 points for both cars finishing. Drivers get 2 points for each place they finish higher than they qualified in (and teams 1 point).

So Piastri was worth 10 Quali points, 10 Bonus race points and 8 bonus overtake points. Then the actual race points being 8 +18 = 26 for a grand total of 54

McLaren was worth 10 bonus points for finishing both races with both cars, 4 bonus (overtaking) points from Piastri in the race and 7 from Norris for a total of 21. Then the 26 points Piastri made and the 21 points Norris made for 47 race points and this a grand total of 73.

Shame i missed the predictions for a few races, too far away now to make any big leaps forward.
Best thing is to put in a prediction for the next race as soon as you can so you at least have something in, then you can adjust as required after practice etc. You can make up quite a few points in a race and there are five plus 2 sprints to go, so you could still get in the top 3. You just need a couple races to go your way and you’re right in the mix.

Any views on the conditions at Qatar? Brundle seems to think it’s par for the course and “real men don’t complain”. IMO firstly why are they racing in the Middle East 4 times with small crowds in dusty, far too hot conditions making violent, careless dictators look good and secondly to allow drivers to race at 200+mph whilst either vomiting or passing out seems to go against all common sense and safety - then why bother with things like the halo..
