Hi Guys sorry I know I only rock up every 3 years or so when I have a problem, but could do with some help. I did the whole throttle body upgrade thing which i dont think is at all related but its possible. Used car after that OK....its been stood a while, but now starts but almost seems like low petrol, Ive put in 25 litres... I could post a clip...but start...frudump, frudump.. like more cylinders join and will run on 7 or so at about 2500...occasionally seems like the number 8 chirps in and joins the party. Sometimes will run as long as i fettle the throttle .... other times just sort of slows and stops. Any ideas from the wealth of knowledge out there?? Any help much appreciated. I’m kinda thinking fuel pressure maybe... on the fuel rail valves what sort of pressure should these be at...should it be fuel everywhere spray or just a short spurt with ignition off?

If you topped up old fuel it will likely run but won’t run well; current fuel has a shelf life of two years only! Looks and smells just the same but will not run.

The rubber around the fuel pumps can disintegrate over time too, maybe first off check the filter for gunk.

2000 3200GT new Fuel... no codes. Cant hear pump running... not sure if i should. I dont think i have enough pressure in the fuel rails, how can i check without a gauge If pump is running correctly if i push valve i dont get high pressure spray?

Straight after it’s been running there should be pressure in the fuel rail. If there’s nothing there you know it’s a fuel problem.

Loz is right filter is RH side of the tank. The tubing to it is has a couple of quick release in it iirc. So it’s an easy check if there’s fuel there.

Ok so i dont think i have power to the pumps/fuses/relays..... any immobiliser stuff that can stop this? I haven’t stolen it! I have 2 15 amp fuses which i think are the ones.... no power, I’m guessing it should have power when ignition or or at least while cranking? Hmmmm..... immobiluser, maybe the indicators flash more than they should when unlocking or locking? Am i being a plum?

think the fuel rail has a port to measure pressure. With engine OFF!! It should p$ss out of here under residual pressure. Try to catch it in a rag, don't come back claiming your house burnt down ;)

The fact it sort of runs means it must be getting 'some' fuel, it wouldn't run at all if the pumps weren't working.

Yes some...but perhaps even immobilised it gets a little....almost by accident. It wont start now, might sorta fire a little bit. So I’ve just been back out and when i lock the car the indicators flash 8 times.... Can anyone tell me what this is please?

charge that battery fully overnight. In the morning do the throttle pot reset at least twice.
Drink strong coffee and have a good turn out before starting the car.
Then get an expert on it.

So i have 12v on cranking at fuel pumps which i didnt think I had but needed a helper... after cranking and a failed start if i push fuel rail valve it does a lazy spurt.... does that sound normal?
