Looks a nice car but might need some more pictures. Maybe some interior pics to show it off a lots more would help.

If I'm honest I don't think the price is realistic and will likely need to be a fair bit less.

I've just sold my 2007/07 4200 CC with only 15k miles for less. Also had quite a few expensive desirable options upgrades too.

Is the colour Blu Nettuno? Interior colour? What year?

Looks very good to me and the price is where it should be. If only everyone would price their pride and joy we would see prices going up as they should. It would catch the eye of the collectors as well

What would be a sensible price then Dicky ? Is this one for your forecourt. Regards. Peter
Peter, it’s always hard to value cars unseen from very limited information. I assume it has an Avorio interior. It would absolutely be one for my forecourt if it’s an outstanding example. I would suggest a retail figure of £23–25k if it’s immaculate, when it’s had the wheel refurbs and the driver’s seat sorted. It would also need to have had a clutch change, been serviced 2019, ‘20, ‘21 & 22 which aren’t shown in the photographs, and pass the ppi at Lancasters. I think you’d do well to attain that sort of figure privately but you never know.

Thanks for the advice. Don't know what PPI is. Will see what interest I get as it is advertised elsewhere. Will accept a sensible offer. Thanks again. Peter.

A ppi is a pre-purchase inspection. Good luck with the sale.

Good luck with the sale. Quote from (former England football manager) Sven Goran Erikkson "everyone thinks they have the prettiest wife at home". And rightly so.
Did you see the GranSport recently acquired for £18,300 ? Personal choice but not sure many would spend more on GT then a Gransport, seen as the peak evolution of that model.

Don't shoot the messenger or take this the wrong way but I think as a private sale as it is currently is you are going to struggle to sell for £20k or any more.

Just my opinion but I've just sold mine which is arguably a 3 year newer lower mile better car for not much more.

I don't know why but many just don't see the value in them as much as other cars in this sector. I think they are missing a trick as I wouldn't and didn't spend 2x/3x/4x/5x for some cars that I don't think are 2x/3x/4x/5x better cars.

I don't they will depreciate any more as the best ones have bottomed IMHO. It is great VFM for £20k IMHO but you only need one person to agree or want to pay more. Depends if you are prepared to wait for the right buyer who wants that car and wants to pay good money for it.

I had one 4200 that was bought/sold many times I know of for £5k-£12k and another from £8k-£13k so depending on timescales or other things the values can value wildly.

Right time right place right buyer right price can produce good results but wrong time wrong place or distressed quick sales can impact the sale price massively, just like any car I guess the same.

As Dicky rightly points out the clutch and recent service history could be a big factor.

If it has had services last few years they need to be mentioned.

Also if it is has ever had the clutch replaced it is definitely worth mentioning this. Could be the difference in someone thinking they have got to spend £3k at some point soon maybe. Or hasn't got to spend £3k anytime soon. Could make a big difference.

Thanks for all the advice - much appreciated. I have owned other sports cars. 3 Lotus Esprits (all series 3 - one turbo). 3 Datsuns - 240z 260z and 280z all of which increased greatly in value during the time I owned them. These cars do not compare to this car for driving experience. Maserati's are undervalued in my view. Thanks again. Peter.

Wow, nice selection there and great interesting choices.

Not sure why but a Maserati doesn't seem to attract the same level of appreciation as some other marques do. Eventually they do it seems but after many many years. I'd agree many are not quite valued accordingly but the market dictates and we can't really change that unfortunately.

It doesn't help when media paint an often innaccuurate picture at times. Then years later change their mind to say they were much better than they said originally! There is very little wrong with a Maserati 4200 IMHO and I think they are great cars. When we have lost the NA high revving V8's forever maybe more will start to agree.

I know I'd rather have a £25k Maserati 4200 than spend £25k on an XR3i or similar as.some seem to have crazy prices often for not great cars.

The Esprits are very poor quality. LOTUS stands for loads of trouble - usually serious. Quite true. The car is a mixture of parts from other manufacturers. VW scirocco filler cap - Triumph Dolomite instrumentation - Rover SD1 rear lights - Mark 4 Cortina brakes - Citroën gearbox. Always having to fix things. The Campbelt was a nightmare to change. Nevertheless they fetch strong prices. The Datsuns particularly 240Z are fetching daft money. Plastic cheap interiors. Very average performance and these are rot boxes. As you say Maserati's are good value for money. Should be more popular.

My view the reason why the Maserati does not hold its price is the cost of spares if you are unlucky to buy a second hand motor that requires work the bill could go thro the roof that is a put off to many buyers
If the price of spares were reduced to a reasonable level more people would buy a maserati and the prices would rise
