My view the reason why the Maserati does not hold its price is the cost of spares if you are unlucky to buy a second hand motor that requires work the bill could go thro the roof that is a put off to many buyers
If the price of spares were reduced to a reasonable level more people would buy a maserati and the prices would rise
Totally agree.

I'm sure Maserati have done their sums and they make more money keeping the parts prices high. Their profit must be is in new car sales, rather than keeping the likes of ours on the road

I don’t think the price of spares is the full story. Spares prices are similar for the F360, but they are typically about 3-5x the price of a 4200.

Good news for me as I would pick my Spyder over a 360 even if the price was the same.

Davide Cirone pretty much summed Maserati for me. They are a timelessly beautiful but quirky and strange at times as well. Which pretty much sums up my taste, but I accept isn’t for everyone hence the lower prices.

Except they dont make a profit and have got their sums and projections wrong year on year.

High parts prices have a negative effect on lease prices, insurance costs and nearly new / used car prices. Which in turn puts buyers off.

I'm really not sure how they can justify charging more than Ferrari for identical parts.

Sadly they seem to keep shooting for the moon but end up hitting their foot.

The sum of the parts is greater than the price of most of our cars now.

I would not mind too much if they were quality parts - but most fail well short of other more mundane cars life expectancy; and I'm not talking about highly stress components.

I really don't think the price of the parts is the issue at all when the feckers have stopped making them it doesn't matter what the price of next to a NLA part is! They should take a leaf out of Porsche's (and a couple of others) book and provide indefinite parts support not just the minimum 10 year EU mandate.

Also fuel prices and things like ULEZ aren't helping cars which are heavy consumers in general.

That said 4200/GS values are doing ok compared to early GranTurismos and if you have a "brand new in box" car then it should be worth more than the rest.

What is needs is UK based company to manage maserati spares for older models.
Pretty sure this happened for Ferrari and expect the situation for our cousins is Perry good. If this was run as profitable business then NLA parts could be remanufactured. Did Eurospares have new wishbones made in Italy for 3200/4200/GS. ?
