So it was service and MOT time this week so got the car booked into Shiltech. Cracking people and top job done, sorted a few niggles like the handbrake shoes that were shot and a few other minor tweaks and the car sailed through its MOT. Seeing as it stayed dry today i thought id give her a good clean, polish and a few layers of wax for the winter. Best she's going to look for a while, bring on next summer!

I think I'm going to go darker when I get my wheels done next year. Just not sure *how* dark.

Well, you've seen mine with gloss black against Grigio Touring as one option. Though I really do love the combo and the shiny-ness of the gloss finish (it looks great reflecting the sunlight when the cars moving), it's just too hard to keep all 15 spokes that way, you end up spending valuable bar-time in the hotel garage with a wheel brush and bucket if you try.

I'm going down a couple of tones and going matt or at least not glossy next time. It is only a coating after all, but I guess at £250 each change, it's not cheap to keep swapping just to experiment.

I'm thinking a dark chrome, but why don't you give it a whirl and let me know? ;)

Looks absolutely superb, including the wheels, which if you look *really* carefully where the lights falls right you can see are more grey than black. What a lovely combination.

Wheels are a right pain in the ar5e, in my opinion. Buggers to clean, buggers to avoid kerbing and too easy to experiment with different shades. Four little round money pits. Shame that when you get them right they really set the car off well. Happily when they're just the wrong shade and a bit kerbed 50 miles of filth and brake dust will easily mask any imperfections.

How about those lovely spinning hub caps which keep on turning even after the car has stopped? They'd look WELL wicked.

I got my new wheels done in satin gunmetal and, IMO, they look fantastic. The satin finish hides the dust really well but still let's the spokes shine on the edge, bringing out the detail of the design. Well worth considering.

Exactly what I was thinking of, sir. Where did you get yours done? Am willing to travel for the right service...and the opportunity for a drive, of course...

I got mine done at the 'Wheel Specialists' in Manchester. However, they have other centres around the country. They aren't the cheapest but they do a thorough job. Might be an idea to have a web trawl to compare prices.

Cheers buddy, bit of Meguiars crystal polish and 3 coats of carnauba wax to protect the paintwork over winter and to give it a nice deep shine. Brings the colour right out :)
