Alfa 147 GTA Exhaust

I made the dreadful decision today. Having got a new job and spent two weeks on the road my wonderful GTA seemed to spend every morning devouring my credit card and is will have to go after four years of great service. I'm replacing it with an Alfa GT 1.9 in silver with the oat meal interior which looks surprisingly good. I'm sure that I will be buying another GTA one day. I was convinced they would be regarded as a modern day Integrale EVO and wished I bought one of those years ago ! The GTA has been my favourite Alfa probably just beating my Alfa 75 3.0 which is calling out for a lot of TLC

Have you done the deal yet Malcolm?

Only ask as I did just the same, swapped my 147GTA for a 1.9GT just recently so that I could teach my son to drive in it.
Don't want to dampen your enthusiasm, but just a word of warning if you don't mind? It's a lovely car, but mine is in the garage with an inlet manifold valve (that has dropped out and passed a through a valve) damage and I'm going through a legal wrangle with the garage as I only bought it two months ago. Get it well inspected and a good warranty, one that hasn't got a £500 limit like mine! Bought mine in Leeds too. The GTA was a fantastic car and I miss it!

Am now going to px the GT when fixed and get a Mito for him instead....

Thanks for the advice. I have not done the deal yet. The car is for sale at Turin Motors Leeds and they are having it checked over for me. It's the first time I have been sensible with a car and kind of down traded. However,a regular 200 miles a day in the GTA will be too much I guess for the car and the wallet. I reckoned that after a few years I would buy another GTA although I am worried that some of them will have been badly treated by then although I guess the types of us on these boards will unearth a gem somewhere. I took the GT out today and was surprised how strong it was and pleased it had the GTA titanium colour on the sat nav. There was also a Brera for sale and its a car I love and hate. For me, it's that slab of metal inside that looks just too brassy.

Will keep you posted.

The Brera does that to people..Love/hate...Love the car, the looks are to die for but its too heavy with sh!!t engines which is a real shame as it's such a missed opportunity for Alfa...So pretty......The only model worth a look os the Brera S Prodrive 3.2...

The Alfa GTA is for sale at Turin Motors in Leeds @ 7K and my new GT does what it says on the box although you have to turn the Bose on load when you start up ! Really enjoy not visiting BP so often though.

The GT is a lovely car...OK it may not excite as much as your GTA but it is a lovely looking thing...

Andy,

Thanks. The GT looks wis,e has really grown on me and even the silver colour - which may be an age thing. There were two black ones for sale at the dealer and I even then went for the silver. I hope to have 7K from the GTA coming in shortly and looking at what to spent it on. Problem is that having one garage means the new item would have to live outside and having a 4200 or Gransport sitting out in the 24/7 x 365 Yorkshire rain may not be a great idea!

Andy,

It a tough one this. When I lived in the centre of London there was all sorts of wonderful machinery parked outside and you kindof accept it as the norm. Here in Leeds all the good stuff is parked in a garage with the mountain bike hanging over the top of it supported by the tumble dryer ! No matter how much mer or whatever your favorite polish is really seems to work long term in my opinion and I would not want it to have to spend the night with a row of audis anyway!

Hi Malcolm,

Have you been to one of our meets in brighouse? Seems like you have plenty of choice to bring along.

See the ink in my signature :)

Sean,

Thanks for the invite and have joined the group on Facebook and will get to the first meeting I can. Great to see some 155s in your pictures. A car that somehow got away from me. A friend has a Q4 and its wonderful especially being LHD of course. Just adds to its appeal for me.

Neighbour bought a new Golf with DSG gear box item today and having always laughed at my efforts to start the 75 had to ask (well his partner did!) if I could help him start his new toy. Brand new car with a flat battery after the owner had sat in the drive for a couple of hours listening to music and working out the sat nav.
