So, it is one h3ll of an engine, probably just as good as BMW's V12 for the Mclaren F1. Pagani have managed to tune the 7.3 V12 to nearly 700 bhp for the Zonda R. I bet that engine would produce 800 bhp with the right components and probably nearly 1000 with a twin turbo conversion.

The interior is the best thing about a Zonda, so elegant and unique.

The Zonda is such a light vehicle it is well matched for power as a hyper car.... Adam it is not all about monser BHP more about drivability = too much peak oomph and it will just want to kill you at every opportunity; I'd guess the engine is tuned to give a lovely wide torque curve and power spread more evenly .

Look at the high output Evo's and the severe turbo lag they suffer if you need an example of asking too much from an engine... getting back to the 959 this solved the lag issues by having twin sets of turbos staged with small low rev and big mid & top end snorters....

I should have worded my post better, what i was getting it is the way Dem said, but it is a Merc engine, i was basically trying to say how good that engine really is; agree with you on the bhp issue, yes it will be designed to have a very high torque curve, same goes for the V10 unit in the Lexus LFA.
