If anyone has an ADT Alarm...

I'd be grateful if you could please let me know if you have

  1. any signage on your property from ADT
  2. If yes, a photo of the sign.

Trying to work out what alarm to get, in my view the signs and alarm box are important as a deterrent.

Thanks

you can get all sorts of different external boxes/sounders, had a texecom system fitted recently and specified the external box be programmed fully illuminated, looks pretty impressive at night or you could just have a small flashing LED, they all do the same thing just depends whether you want in your face and obvious or something more subtle, have got an ADT box on a commercial unit that was fitted about 5 years ago, will get a picture of it sometime today

You will find if it is a domestic version then you will have to specify an external bell. Most systems are wireless with an internal siren and alarm monitoring.
If it is wireless you will only get a flashing led as there will be a lack of power to light it up all the time.
If you want the monitoring bit then be prepared to pay. If you want it to ring your mobile or be able to view your camera in the detectors there are cheaper companies.
They will hook you with free installation or even basic kits and then charge a large monthly fee for a set period of time. It used to be 2 or 3yrs.

personally i stay away from wireless for obvious reasons, cant beat hard wired where ever possible, all good quality grade 2 systems have the ability to be fully monitored with police response if installed correctly, there are a few options on the comms, dual com and also Dualcom Digi Air which i had fitted recently with the Texecom system, monitoring is fairly inexpensive for the year and gives peace of mind, grade 2/3 Honeywell systems have the ability to text alerts to several numbers when programmed and no need to have monitoring if trying to keep costs down

Police response!... unless you have specific markers any response will be measured in days.

Agreed. I spent 18yrs running cables and fitting out MOD and bank vaults. It is a dying art now as they just stick up a preprogrammed device and plug it in!

actually quite impressed by the boys in blue here, on the odd occasion on double taps they've turned up pretty quick, as did the fire brigade when i accidentally set of a fire detector connected to the alarm system

ADT wanted £49 pm from me and I couldn’t afford that so I got a Verisure one, excellent kit with police response fobs in the house

" 911, what is the nature of your emergency?"
" Someone is breaking into my garage"
" No car is available at this time, we will have someone out in about an hour"
Hangs up.
"911, what is the nature of your emergency?"
" I've just shot an intruder"
Cops arrive.
" Where's the victim?"
" There's no victim"
" You said you shot someone"
" You said no one was available"

That would be brilliant, thanks in advance

apologies for delay, the ADT contract was not renewed a while back , forgot as have a few alarms fitted there, anyway the company that took over maintenance on this unit fitted the usual bell box as shown in the pic and these are your usual good grade boxes that most companies use and just stick their logo on.

The latest i had fitted on a new residential property was a higher grade 3 Texecom Odyssey X illuminated sounder/bell box, would highly recommend these as they are a higher grade and programmable from end station if you want it fully illuminated and/or just flashing LED

What sort of system do ADT now fit?, they used to use Honeywell systems

They were honeywell/galaxy for wired and pyronix for wireless as I was on the tech committee and tested a lot of them from a standards and compliance point of view.
I imagine the cheapest they can find. They are part of Johnson controls now.

honeywell galaxy 44 panels are pretty good and they have the built in comunicator to send text alerts, good if you dont want the expense of fully monitored, quite like the texecom premier 48 panels, have 5 of those fitted and never had any issues but that's mainly due to using good grade dual tech pir's as well
