I caught the back end of the bbc programme. Not the address. The bit that made me laugh, Nicola Sturgeon wasn’t happy that she had to find out the new slogan from the times.....
I was out in garden, my missus said the bbc newscaster asked Mr Stammer leading questions which gave him the opportunity to answer as negatively as he could...
Sh1t storm in a tea cup for me....

I saw it as middle class work from home, nice, working class travel to work and risk it and make us some money....
I see it as a ******* shambles , wednesday will be a busy day with people deciding a trip to the coast etc is OK because lockdown is over , we can drive with no limit on distance Boris said so
I can't have a drink in a pub garden but a full bus turns up and crack on mate.
Some businesses that could socially distance their customers can't open but transport with no social distancing is fine .
How if the tube in london going to work, queue 2m apart on the platform then single file occupy every 3rd seat
Balls , this is let them out and see how many catch it , expect London Deaths to be like New York only with more Pimms a few weeks from now , they've paid for those 4000 beds for a reason

Seems to me the plan never was to get rid of the virus - how could it be? Surely it is far beyond the point of containment now with its global spread. Eradicating it everywhere seems highly unlikely and as soon as borders reopen and tourism starts up it might spread again.

Throughout the whole process the government have made clear they are simply trying to match the number of people requiring hospitalisation to the capacity available to treat them. This reduces avoidable deaths as much as possible. At the moment there are spaces in hospitals for more patients, so it makes sense to ease restrictions slightly and see how things go.

The unavoidable fact is that they cannot shut down the economy and pay peoples wages indefinitely. Therefore people who can't work from home will need to go back to work, take the best precautions available to them and work with their employers to create a safe working space as far possible.

Thought Boris was ok
Snowflakes talking about lack of clarity - it seemed clear enough tome
Tentative first steps

Agree, not sure why it wasn't clear. Clear enough to me with more info coming this week. Doesn't effect me though as I live in Wales. Really do not understand why the Welsh Lavour government and the rest the UK are not working together in this. It's like they are all point scoring again. Theidiot we have running Wales is just a complete cock nostrel and really cannot understand why Welsh labour have him in charge.

I would think buses will have to do the same as businesses when they come back. A full list of actions are in place that you have to have taken before you are allowed to return. The audit is 90 questions. Anyone who hasn't answer yes to all the questions cannot return. The EHO are over seeing this and can visit sites and take action against companies that have not adhered to these actions.....One being that offices and canteens can only have chairs in them for the right amount of colleagues working and have to be 2 metres apart. All other seats have to be removed or have taped up so they can't be used. Surely this will be the same for buses etc......Today I will mostly be removing chairs and using Police line tape......

This 14 day quarantine on air travel is pointless though. Why not test incoming travellers on entry, like in Austria?

We have two friends who came back from Miami last weekend. The husband is American and was amazed that there wasn't any checks at all coming back in. Even if there was a temperature test that takes a few seconds it would be something.

I have not been a boris basher and think generally he and the gov have done the best they could on the advice they got but I do think moving parts of the UK at different speeds can be easily predicted to produce confusion and increased risk, particularly in regions with low infection rates but are "attractive to travel to" so this is a wrong move IMO.
For me though the biggest mistake with these relaxations is failing to enforce the use of face coverings when out of the home. There is evidence that even a basic cotton face covering significantly reduces you transmitting to others so protects others and therefore if all were wearing them, we would be better protected by default.
Like a lot of people I have hated the lockdown but feared it going if not managed well, I do worry this scenario may be coming to fruition.

Spot on! Let's he honest with ourselves, the whole purpose of the last 7 weeks has been to buy time for the NHS to get better prepared for the Tsunsmi which is yet to come. As soon as lockdown measures start to be relaxed ( in whatever form, it actually wont make a great difference) , infection and therefore death rates will rocket, its inevitable but other than keeping the whole population locked up until a mass vaccination programme is available, there is frankly very little choice. We have got to get the economy restarted otherwise this nightmare will drive the country into the ground.

Presently trying to book flights that don't involve a (hub airport Dubai or Addis ) in my case , they will be a Corona virus heaven , couple that with having to spend 14 days in Quarantine in Uganda or Kenya , then drive into South Sudan for another 14 days quarantine , doesn't bode well ,and will be frightfully expensive with no achievement for a month , looks like I'll sit tight for another month .....it is what it is

How can they , I rarely use public transport but no bus in warrington has 2 entrances so what do they do, double deckers only, one passenger up top one below because the aisle isn't 2m wide , no taxis just black cabs , trains , one passenger per exit

They know most of us are going to catch it and a percentage will die , the virus isn't going anywhere until we've all had it all you can do is protect yourself , people that have no money and 80% pays 80% of their bills have no choice but to go to work , in cities that means public transport.

And that is helpful in what way? Some jobs can be done remotely, some cannot. It’s the career choice you make.

Agree about public transport. It will be very difficult which is why the government is trying to encourage walking and cycling. Electric bikes are reasonably cost effective and are very impressive as I have witnessed when old guys overtake me on hills coming back with the shopping whilst I am in grade I MAMIL apparel. Otherwise people will buy cheap cars where possible. The problem is working in cities where the cost of parking is prohibitive.

We have needed something for a long time to make business think again about the need for the five day, same time commuter scrum. This is it and we need to embrace it and come up with new ways of working. I’d never used Zoom before and only occasionally used Teams but now think both are great.

Nice one. The virus does not disappear, if anything like flu it changes over time to make it harder to deal with it. All the governments of the UK have managed capacity well and the lock down has worked. We can now slowly unwind it and see what happens to admissions, putting the brakes on if necessary again. However, people will get it, we just need to minimise the chances of high risk groups being exposed and increasingly work out what high risk means as it is not fully clear so far. The vaccine is for these people initially and possibly only for them as the virus will gradually work its way through the low risk population - or not as it’s also unclear why some people who are exposed get it and some don’t. It’s volume ‘green card’ testing we need for the economy to really get going again as the wait for the vaccine is likely to be too long economically speaking.
