Bora or Mistral

Been looking at classic maserati lately and am thinking that for £40k these cars are a seriously good investment, get a nice one with good history and it can only go in one direction....when you compare them with other classics they are so much more rare....

I would go Bora all the way personally the Mistral never did it for me and I luv my 70's wedges.
The problem you have is finding a decent Bora for £40k....£50k maybe.

I prefer the look of the Mistral personally. Makes you realise how cars have moved on since then; my chipped 330D is faster to 60 and gets 40+mpg. It probably handles better too!

I don't doubt it Adam, but they are fairly cr4p. Too 70's and Magnum PI for me. IMO, there are far better ways of spending £30-50k.

Practically no difference between the 2. Cosmetics, 200cc and 15bhp? It still looks like a car that a fat american would squeeze his carcass into. Whatever you say, there are far better ways to spend £30k+.

Not saying it is the best classic for around 30k, just think they will be a future classic. Not sure i would part with 30k for one as a 355 can be had for 35k.

I wouldn't tie up £30k in the hope it would be a future classic while putting up with a dynamically inferior 70s driving experience. 355s, even the odd 360 can be had for the same money and I would much rather have one of those two in my garage. More to the point I would rather have my spyder; it's better looking, classier, faster, rarer and drives better than a 328 and I can spend the £10k I saved on fuel.

I think, to the uninformed, that driving a 308/328/Mondial means that you can't afford a real Ferrari so you are getting in at the bottom end of the range. They aren't very fast, don't handle fantastically and they make an Ok noise. That said, they are a Ferrari and that means a lot to some people. For me they are too dated and too much of a cliche.

as Benny says they have a serious image problem, it says you can't afford a decent Ferrari, like driving a 20 year old bentley you just look like a scrap metal dealer......

Bora, deffo. V8 after all...........

Though finding one at the right price and condition may prove to be a challenge.

Mistral a lovely car but it would have to be a spider and they are top dollar now.
