Brexit Deal

Perhaps.... but the political stakes are now very different and have been multiplied many times over. So watch previously mothballed naval ships ( a lot of them in Portsmouth dockyard) come back into service again and drones being used much more.
For sure the French will just let the Refugees in Calais have a free for all now. No incentive to stop them so UK better get ready for a deluge of rubber dinghies trying to cross the channel.
This has all the hallmarks of a potentially serious situation escalating very quickly.
Those mothballed ships won’t be going anywhere. No crews to man them.

Can I assume that it would be illegal for our warships to blow the French fishing boats out of the water (as in 1545) if they are fishing in the three mile limits? (Not that we need a three mile limit, viz The Belgrano in the falklands war). Sink a few and the rest would go back to france?
Apparently there are more fish hanging around in our waters than we can eat. So, more serious question, why can't we just catch tons of fish and SELL them to the French?

I suspect that might cause something of a diplomatic incident. In the paper today apparently it's being looked at strengthening some laws to allow the boarding and impounding of said boats

Am I mistaken that you live in Portugal and are calling for armed attacks on unarmed fishermen?

I know you were tongue in cheek, but there are those out there that would regard this course of action as reasonable and proportionate.

Or maybe you do believe this and feel this is an appropriate way for the UK to conduct itself whilst sunning yourself in the Iberian peninsula on the basis of the Treaty of Windsor of 1386 https://www.historic-uk.com/HistoryUK/HistoryofEngland/Treaty-Of-Windsor-1386/

Maybe we have learnt that Boris is incapable of negotiating a good deal or a deal at all.

Perhaps redirect resources from one of the 2 carrier fleets?.. According to the press., 'HMS Prince of Wales' is going to be in docks for a few months having its drive shaft seals replaced. Letting in a bit too much water just now!. So the crew will be twiddling their thumbs for a few months.

Nothing beats a bit of sabre-rattling to keep the public from seeing the truth

We are seeing the truth; France is still the spiteful bunch of **** who we have been at war with for the past 1000 years. Macron has done his best to scuttle any meaningful Brexit deal and this perfectly highlights why getting out of Europe was the best possible course of action. However, his stupidity and intransigence will only hasten the fall of the evil empire.

He has a point, the papers like to moan about something, stir up interest and leeches like Farage also feed on this. I think he was abused by his father as he has a lot of hate to spew.

Sorry mate, apologies. However, I tried to hide my complete, and utter, contempt for Macron behind what I would consider to be a fairly mild term of abuse. I appreciate you live there and you are likely to marry a french lady, and for that I apologise for any offence. In future, I will try and be more particular with my contempt.

Look on the bright side. The RN is mustering the gunboats so that'll give Covid something to think about.
