Cars that should do well over the next 10years

Well I know this may cause some hilarity but I’ve just pressed the button on a Morgan. I know, I know, need to drink more real ale, grow a beard and work on my halitosis to fit in with other Morgan owners, but it’s a really fun car.

But the thing is that at 5yrs old it’s now worth almost exactly what it cost new. Zero depreciation. I have a feeling that if you buy correctly these cars might well go up like my other classics.

A Morgan is on my list
Good choice. Mine is a Plus 4 with narrow body. Quite a rare beast but I prefer the narrower look as it more in keeping with the 30’s look. a 2 litre Duratec engine and MX-5 box is plenty of power for a very light car. in 2016 they changed to BMW and a different construction chassis.

what model and spec would you go for?

What year was that ad? Probably around 1981, the year I started driving in my £300 Avenger. I am guessing the stretch at the time to £1200 for an Avenger Tiger may as well have been £1.2M
I also had an Avenger that cost me £300. Only a 1.3L but at 18yrs old it was great. I ran it into the ground driving between gigs with a heavy Peabey Artist amp in the boot and knackered suspension. I looked on eBay recently and couldn’t find a single one for sale. No great loss I guess.

1981 for that ad sounds about right.

Looking at Supersport or Aero Coupe - rarely available and no rush as moving house at the moment

Hah mine was a 1300DL and I used to roadie for a drummer friend - as for the body and suspension, when I jacked the car up for the first time the front wheels stated on the ground! Still I DO have an Avenger Tiger now, so all is well.

Definitely 80's but could be nearer 85.

recently bought a tidy rare 2004 individual E46 Touring, the paint label is partly flaking/peeling loose on the turret and want preserve it, not entirely sure how best to deal with it, was thinking some clear sticky film but needs to be fairly hardy and permanent, open to any ideas

You can order paint code stickers from your dealers. But that’s an BMW Individual sticker so not sure but you can ask.
