Lucky then Enz.........was told this by an indie specialist.

P
I was told the opposite by an indie specialist. I guess all we conclude is that people working in the motor industry tell a good story when it suits them.

My Indie regularly deal with pre 07 QPs and they say they are a nightmare. It must be said that they always seem to have a QP in undergoing some sort of remedial work.

I did not have any electrical issues. All mechanical and I guess commensurate with mileage. Watch for the following .
Clutch wear reading
When next service due
Pads and discs
Wear in rear suspension wishbone

And of course check everything electric does indeed work !

I would say You must budget for :£3000 in repairs and servicing at least
And anything left over will be a bonus. Sorry if I am a party pooper Adam but you have to realise this car will be drain, not an investment. Especially if buying from a trader.

As before pre 07 models....were a bit iffy electrically....bear it in mind......before you loose half you house deposit in one year Adam!!!

P

The wiring on the QP was completely changed when the ZF auto went in at the start of 07. This applies to Duoselect cars too as they were still made until at least 09.

Had my QP over 3 years and no warranty in the last two. Total cost of repairs in last 2 years = ZERO pounds. According to you guys (none owners) QP's are a bag of sh1t. If so why have they sold stacks compared to earlier models and many have 6 digits on the odometer? Very few owners of QP's bother with the board (wonder why?) and of the four, three still own their cars after several years (ENZ,BJL and myself).

Guess I'll find a QP centric board instead.

Have to agree with Simon, gossip & hearsay is not what this forum should be promoting, since buying my 06 sport GT in may, I have covered 5k, including a trip to the Nurburgring. No electrical problems what soever. As an Electrical Engineer,I find some of the comments totally illogical, & may mislead, other members.
The point that later cars were "fully rewired" would not make any sense, or stand up to scrutiny, wiring methods, connectors & harnesses are VERY reliable, having no moving parts.... for the benefit of all please can comments be made from a position of experience & or knowledge.
Cheers

As you said, people just repeating BS. You only have to look at the eurospares site and compare to see that there was no "complete rewire of the car". Funniest part are people who slag off the "duoselect" while owning a "cambiocorsa" (its essentially the same thing).

Sadly the forum has degraded to topics about;

QP/GT depreciation (non owners being highly concerned!).

How sh1t the spec/colour is of such and such a car currently for sale

How much 4200's and Gransports have appreciated lately and how long will it be before they are worth more than Granturismos.

LOL

God far from it Simon............In fact I believe I said that there have been no horror stories about the QP since launch.........The first car to buck the trend on reliability for Maserati......Don't think anyone on here would describe a QP as a bag of sh!t

my experience is real world not heresay. I am not scratching around for funds to buy and insured a car but if I were I would hope someone would just be realistic with me about maintenance costs. £3000 pa for a 62000 mile car is not out of the way and it would be wrong to suggest otherwise ....... Not fair to Adam ....

I think your car is perhaps also at a mileage where the larger consumables have yet to need replacing ..... Clutch, brakes, etc.

My point is that you simply need to budget.

And for what its worth I found the forum members really helpful and supportive .

For what its worth ive just caught up with this one , to be totally honest most QP stuff i just glide over , but i have to agree , in 4 years i too have not heard any QP horror stories , in fact the opposite , they seem as robust mechanically as the 4200 and the latter GT 's , and as to electrical gremlins .............well thats new to me aswell ,i often chat with various Indies as i know most of them on a chatty basis , and to be honest electrical problems in the QP has never cropped up as a regular fault , we really must substantiate claims/regular probs if supported by someone of good standing , im sure no indie i know would have any problem if he was quoted properly ,

As to colour combo's being ( well not all together to out personal taste ) its a personal thing ..................... if you have £100K to spend when specking a new car you have what you want and what floats your boat .............. simple

As the member who first mentioned this with no personal experience, but heard from the indies mouth re this, I don't feel I am repeating hearsay....nor is it BS, posted up here in good faith.

I don't have numbers nor frequencies nor what exactly was giving the bother.
