Well, don't drive in auto, but that's a given. Received wisdom is that driving in auto shortens clutch life.

When you say doesn't want to change up, how high up the rev range are you going, and are you in sport?

TBH, I don't know if mine works in auto as I have never tried it. Don't reckon I ever will!

I would suspect it the auto switch, or that the sports mode one stopping it changing up as it only sends a signal to the ECU.

It is either not changing from manual to auto due to a faulty switch /fuse/relay, or the revs are not high enough as you are in sport. Try it out of sport and see if the auto light comes on when you hit the button, then try..!! You also may have the "ICE" mode on, which limits speed related to changes, check if that is off..!!

Schoolboy error number 2 was that I didn't try it in Auto during the test drive - I think I was so keen to try the paddles. It was in manual mode when I took the wheel.

When I tried auto this morning, I wasn't in Sport mode at the time, so that should narrow down the possible causes..

I guess the switch could be removed and tested for a short? Where would the relay be located?

As South Wales isn't too far from Poole, I would recommend you book one of Emblem Sports Cars' Saturday morning clinics. The guys are very knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. They will tell you all about the car you've purchased, plug in the diagnostics and tell you if there's anything amiss. They'll also reset any error codes and if simple, fix anything there and then (relays etc). And, it's all for free. Of course, the idea is to get you interested in using them for your servicing etc but, there's no obligation. It's a couple of hours well spent.

Their clinics are only for existing clients...new ones may have to pay...after all it is a three hour inspection.

Yet the Auto light comes on - which would suggest that the switch is ok I guess?

I would *think* so, but this is a Maserati :)

I can't see a fuse or relay that looks as if it's specific for auto mode, so I'd probably suggest checking all the fuses and hoping.

Thanks guys. I'll check the fuses at the next opportunity and also ghink about a visit to Emblem. My mother and one of my brothers live in Poole so tend to get down there a couple of times a year anyway.

No need to be afraid... a change of policy; that's a great opportunity for all on here...they did my second 4200 and it was three hours of work!

It says 'only available to retail customers' - not sure what they mean by this??

IE Not Trade, so the local garage cant take their car down there and state its been inspected by Emblem.
