599.Not that I’m in the position but I keep returning to a conundrum - a new Roma for £200k+ with options, or a Ferrari 599 HGTE/612 Scaglietti OTO for around half the price. Not quite like with like - the Roma is likely to be financed more, and you get a warranty - but it’s not as if the older cars are slow, they have naturally aspirated V12s and are modern enough to have the tech you need rather than superfluous stuff. The Roma is prettier, but both the 599 and 612 have a similar elegance to them (compared to the brutal designs at Ferrari over the past ten years). It’s a tricky one, as I really love the Roma’s design, but the Nat/asp V12 is such a thing...
(touch screens solve a problem
i think we are violently agreeing!Personally I think you're wrong there. Most touch screens seem a really really bad idea in cars. Anyone know if they use them in planes?

Would be nicei think we are violently agreeing!
what was wrong with nice sensibly sized rotating knobs and sliders! Land Rover are ruining their latest cars with these screens! not intuitive on the move, can't be used with gloves, smeary in no time. no value apart from aesthetics in a brochure or showroom from my perspective.Would be nice
They seem to be a bloody stupid idea when you're being juggled around due to road service. Having said that I experienced a Kenwood one today. That (at least for an hour) seemed 'OK'
.....time will tell if that perception remains.
Voice control is where we should be

While I hate touch screen infotainment systems, as I agree they solve a problem no one ever had, I actually now realise, that I detest my wife's 2018 c class Merc coupe switchgear. It has pretty much every option on it so every button blank has something in it.. Even after nearly 3 years I curse and rage trying to find the traditional buttons which appear to have been positioned by an idiot who either sits right on top of the steering wheel or has ape like long arms .. It feels like there are endless buttons to jab blindly at ranging from a line of identical horizontal switches above the cubby hole.. a rotary dial surrounded by buttons, a mouse like joystick covered in buttons and a touchpad... all of which have icons that disappear in sunlight against the shiny piano black finish... it is just awful to use... and the voice control is poor compared to the one in the FCA Uconnect.... just realised this should probably be in the rant thread..Would be nice

I have to say I like the Velars touchscreen in both looks and function. It did take some days to figure it all out but once you have it’s very simple to use......on the move. I agree re the fingerprints that are left on the black screen once switched off but that’s easily taken care of with the provided microfibre if you’re particularly fussed.what was wrong with nice sensibly sized rotating knobs and sliders! Oh god....I liked my Mercs system too. The infotainment screen in the ghibli is very well thought out and easy to use. Things like heater controls are duplicated so you have conventional buttons underneath or the screen if you so choose

In my previous XJ (350 model) you had a button to turn on the heated seats, even Mrs Scaf could do it, first generation of the new shape (351) and it was all touch screen and you had to make far more presses to operate, latest XJ, joy oh joy a real button again, but it works as a shortcut to the touch screen, so better but not best.Touch screen, phones, iPad, screens in cars....Fecking horrid because they get fecking dirty with finger marks all the time.....Who ever thought this is the way to go is a cock wobble.
