@Mavster - I’ve just re- read my comments and those of others, and was reflecting on how they are almost identical to the reaction I got when I first joined the forum 3 yrs ago looking for my first Maserati.
At the time I wanted a Granturismo S with less than 40k miles, I wanted the MC Shift, I had a long list of things I wanted in terms of options, and I had a budget of £45k. I ended up buying a Granturismo which didn’t have half the stuff I had originally listed (including a different gearbox!) through Richard Grace for slightly more than £45k ... and I’m really glad I did as it was an immaculate, fabulous car.
Reason for recounting the story is that, given the market adjustment, I reckon you will almost certainly be able to buy a Gransport for under £20k. You might even be able to get one with under 50k miles (as for lots of owners these are weekend cars and don’t get used as a daily). However, I definitely don't think that £20k is going to buy you the best example out there, and I suspect that at that kind of price point it’s likely to be either a private sale, or from a dealer who’s taken something in part ex where the warranty is worth diddly squat... As such, if you’re looking for something to cherish and to keep for a few years, then given the potential running costs of a car that has not been maintained perfectly, it’s definitely worth thinking about whether there’s scope to increase the budget a smidge.
Clearly, if there’s not scope to raise the budget, then you buy the best example you can find for the money...
I would also suggest you test drive as many as possible, and depending on where you’re based in the country you might want to come along to one or more of the SM meets?
