You may be getting someone cheaper and better though Dem...

"While we wait for more developments on the two strikers apparently leaving and arriving at Anfield for £50m and £35m respectively, let's compare Reds (and possibly soon to be Chelsea) frontman Fernando Torres and his apparent replacement, Newcastle's Andy Carroll. According to Opta, in the Premier League this season, Carroll has more goals than Torres (11 to nine), more assists (three to two) and the time lapse between goals is less (148 mins per goal compared to 211 mins per goal). The Newcastle striker's shooting accuracy is worse than Torres however, with 43% of his shots hitting the target compared to the Spaniard's 52%."

Your rant is wasted Dem....................list of the greedy horrifically long.....loyalty was a term last used in the 70s.......times we live in...God bless Jimmy Hill who released all players from a maximum wage situation in the early 60s where players had no rights......really!!!

The way I look at it, you've got three more than decent players who want to play for your club for a nett cost of £20 million. Torres has been sulking, on and off, for months. You're well rid of him, IMO

I think Liverpool have come out well in this.

Dem, Torres was bound to leave Liverpool, you know that, look at how poor Liverpool have been this season, mind you, Chelsea have not had a good one so far, 35 Million for Andy Carrol, get real, he is worth 15 million tops.

At least Fabregas is staying, that is all that matters.

Dem

Every cloud has a silver lining. I'll be happy to sign for just £25k/wk and guarantee a form of entertainment as long as my zimmer doesn't stick in the mud.

Dem, i agree, he will be hated so much by the Liverpool fans, apparantly at training today Torres trained alone, knowone would speak to him.

Personally, I think he's needed to go for a while. When he's in the mood, he's a cracking player, but when he's not (i.e. for pretty much this whole season and a good chunk of last), he's a moody teenager.

For me, the biggest loss will be not being able to give it "bounce in a minute, we're gonna bounce in a minite...." on the terraces. That's a gem that.

I dont wish ill on him, but if wearing the red shirt isnt enough, he should be sold and at £50m, 'pool will do OK out of it. Be interested to see if this new lad plays his heart out or not.

Though I understand your disappointment, Dem, as a neutral in this, I can understand Torres position.

It's his job. He gets paid for playing football. He's never played in the Champions League. It looks like Liverpool will not qualify for next year's tournament. Chelsea have doubled his wages and offered him a chance to play in Europe's top competition.

Now, hand on heart Dem. If your present employer was moribund and you'd spent over three years waiting for things to improve. If the owners had been changed and your boss sacked and then you were approached by a company which offered to double your income, give you a mahoosive signing on bonus and improve your job prospcts, would you turn your back on the offer?

Dem...I admire your true footballing passion........................Andy Carroll aint all that.....and for £35 million its breathtaking........hes no Torres or Drogba.........maybe in 2/3 seasons to prove himself......Torres appears to be the worst thing of all...a moody player........yuck...either you're a professional or you're not.................always giving your all....NOT just for the wages but for your team, fans and pride!

he could have gone anywhere in the world why chelsea?? a club with no history who buy trophies?? if he went barca i would say well done.....

now when the team is not playing well you have to take responsibility, he hasnt exactly played well so why cry??

I don't think it has anything to do with money or greed, its about playing football at the highest level and that is the Champions League. Chelski are far better placed to qualify for this next season and are in it this season, Liverpool are not going to qualify for it next season and aren't in it this season. Personally I am overjoyed at the mess Liverpool are in but thats because I support Man U :)

(I hope we can still be friends Dem)
