Many refer to this era of rallying as the ultimate era, so what is your fave road car version?

for me i would love one of these to pop to Asda in

and i have always had a soft spot for this, flame spitting beast.

That Lancia is a truly awesome car, mixture of the Montecarlo and the forerunner to the HPE Volumex (supercharged) would love to know the price ...................the renault well ................as usual its just an ugly pig with longer legs

Adam

AS per my prior post I had a Turbo 2 & a Maxi 5 they were both nuts and fragile but I loved them.

something about the 5 Maxi Turbo i like, not a looker but love them. I really like the 8 Gordini too and the Alpine 110 is stunning,

The gear lever in the 037 looks like they got a job lot from Ann Summers! The rest of the car looks good, apart from the interior that is. Wot, no sat-nav!?

Amazing to think that this fire breathing Rally homologation special would be struggling to beat my BM 330D in a straight line! I guess that's progress.

My Lancer Turbo ice-cream van is a group B car, 1 of 500 (I think). Not many left now, all the rest have rusted away or have been backwards through hedges and into oblivion.

Out of the two I would take the Renault. Don't know why, just always had a soft spot for them.

Back then the rally cars ..apart from the Lancia I thought were pretty ugly to be honest.....Metro's, Renaults, even the Audi I wasn't a fan.....much prefer to see them looking more like the road cars......

I think the whole ethos was that they didn't look like standard cars. They had to be pumped up and stretched to give them the best chance of producing massive power and keeping that power on the road. Some of the later cars were producing 600+bhp. Those were the days!

Renaults are to the car industry what baggies were to the trouser industry , everyone had a pair but in their hearts knew they looked really stupid

Now Now Loz,

My Maxi 5 was with out doubt the quickest point to point B road car I have EVER owned. Just cost a fortune to run, they were prototypes so things like heads would go etc. No wonder when it was pushing 300BHP from a 1.4 lump!

Not for me..Remember when they came out....Spoilt the lines of what is a great hot hatch.....205 GTI is a lovely proportioned car...That is not to my eyes...

I have been lucky enough to follow a red 037 on a country road during a Lancia Car Club event.
There is simply no comparison; a truly spectacular vehicle from any angle.
The owner has a genuine factory Stratos and thinks the 037 leaves it for dead.
Will post some pics when I am back on the PC.

Please do.....Such a great looking car............Looks wise you can not put the 205 or Renault in the same parking place...
